Wonderful changing pad without the toxic chemicals
***UPDATE*** It is now 6 years later and we ended up using this changing pad with our first child and then our second. We also bought several more (for grandparents home and for the time when we had two children in diapers). We purchased this two-sided version as well as the four-sided version and did prefer this one slightly. Each one we bought (including the first in 2014) held up through two children and were in pristine condition to be passed on to friends having children. I did use a cover on the pads, but certainly did not treat them that carefully and they all literally looked exactly the same as when first purchased. The nontoxic waterproofing worked wonderfully and the material was soft enough to be comfortable for baby, but firm enough to be useful as a changing pad. My children were also usually on this pad when I put lotion on them after bath and dressed them. I loved that there was never a chemical odor and that these pads were safe for baby without any dangerous chemicals that could cause harm (such as in standard foams and waterproofing materials). I would buy this (and have) for friends and family and would highly recommend! ************************ This is a great changing pad! It is a great size and has a great feel to it. My son spends a lot of time on this pad, so it is great to know that there are no toxic chemicals in this that he is being exposed to and no funny smell. I would pay the price for this over the more affordable foam pads which contain flame retardants and other chemicals. I have bought several of these and would purchase more in a heart beat.

No smell, feels well-made, but it's mostly air and a little less structured than foam
My wife and I bought this because the other "Natural" changing pad we bought had a powerful chemical smell that didn't dissipate even with a few days of airing out. We are very pleased that this one has no odor and seems to really live up to its description. It is well-made with heavy stitching, rugged fabric, and good straps and table-mounting screws. However, one downside is that the core of this pad is basically just a pad of polypropylene (plastic) tubes filled with air. I'm not worried about durability or anything, but compared to the foam pad that smelled bad, this one has a lot less structure. It would have been better in my opinion if it had a stiffer back and more cotton stuffing to make the scooped shape a little more pronounced. I initially gave this only 4 stars, but then I realized that to do so would pull its rank down, and in my opinion this is still better than those foam pads that get 4+ stars, so I'll give it a 5 and just leave these pros and cons in the review. Otherwise people who sort by rating will miss this pad, and my rating will have therefore been counter-productive.

Very Happy I Purchased This
As a first-time mom-to-be it did not occur to me how much time I would be spending with my baby on his changing table. Not just changing diapers and clothing but interacting (real quality time). What I did think about was that I wanted to purchase as many baby products as I could that were organic and free of the chemicals added to so many items. I am very happy I purchased the Naturepedic Organic Cotton Changing Pad. I get peace of mind knowing that it is organic. It is a very well-made and thick pad and has a water-resistant cover (which is absolutely essential). The contouring adds peace of mind that he can't roll too much and it is great that we were able to screw the pad to the top of his changing table with the attached straps and screws. I would recommend to any new parent that they purchase a really good quality changing pad like this one.

Very nice changing pad
This changing pad has really helped changing times. We have a very active little 5 month old daughter who loves to roll around while Mom or Dad tries to get a clean diaper in place. Having the contoured sides helps minimize the rolling (we used to have a flat pad) although she does her best to test the limits. We don't bother with the strap or fastening the pad to the table as we make sure to always keep a hand on her while she's being changed. It's waterproof, so no worries about moisture getting inside and growing bacteria. Be sure to use a cover because the waterproof surface repels liquid making it spread. If your baby decides to pee while being changed, you're going to want something to absorb the liquid to keep it from going everywhere. The only thing that could make this pad better would be if it had a stiff backing. We have a few covers for when the others are in the laundry and while they all fit, some of the tighter ones tend to lift the sides of this pad just a little. This does not happen with the Naturepedic changing pad cover designed for this changing pad. All in all, this has been a great purchase. Highly recommended!

Worth Every Penny!
Great changing pad, I use it without a cover & it cleans up so easily. I love that there's no vinyl and foam and my baby loves laying on it. I've used and abused this pad for the last seven months and it's in perfect shape, like brand new. I've found Naturepedic to be such a trustworthy company, I have 2 of their mattresses, this changing pad plus a travel changing pad. All are awesome... They are expensive but worth it since the baby is on these surfaces for such a large percentage of his life. I debated on going cheap with the changing pad but I would not hesitate to repurchase knowing what I know now.

Worth every penny.
My baby LOVES laying on her changing pad - it's so comfortable for her and it was worth the extra money to know she's not breathing in toxins by being on it.

Pricey but good quality
Love this changing pad! Large size, adequate but firm cushioning, appears well made with tight stitching and good structure. So easy to wipe clean and does not stain. We donโt currently use a cover-seemed unnecessary given the organic, waterproof exterior of the mat itself, which is what made it worth the price for us. No need to create extra laundry.

This is superior to all changing pads i have seen as far ...
This is superior to all changing pads i have seen as far as quality goes. It feels great and not at all plasticky. What i don't like is the size. I don't know why there isn't a more standard size for changing pads/tables. It didnt fit my babyletto changing dresser by a half inch, so i had to remove the top and use it as a dresser mounted one. It's fine but i like the look and security of it being contained in a changing table better. It attaches "safely" to the dresser top but i'm going to look for something grippy to stick to the dresser so it doesnt slip as much. Also my cute changing pad covers from land of nod are way too big for it. Wish i would have known how much these items vary in size. Besides those gripes, as a functional place to change and dress the baby it's perfect.
