Raggedy Andy Stories: Introducing the Little Rag Brother of Raggedy Ann

I’m planning to not only share the books but also the dolls with three great grand children. It’s a timeless story guaranteed to please a child’s imagination. Need I say more?😊.

These were the stories my Dad read to me as a kid. They ought to be available to a new generation of children via all the major B&M bookstores. But as someone who once worked in a bookstore for five years in college back in the '90s, I observed even then that these works were never stocked. As a result, too few children are exposed to Johnny Gruelle's timeless classics. These are incredibly imaginative and whimsical stories, with illustrations completely unlike anything produced by anyone else (meaning much better than most children's illustrators/cartoonists' today). But more than that, these books convey values of kindliness, compassion and the Golden Rule. Every children's librarian should stock Gruelle's books and every major bookstore should carry at least some of of these classics. Back in the '70s and even into the mid '80s the dolls were ubiquitous. By the '90s, however, the dolls and the stories seemed to fall off the map. It would seem that because Disney never gained control of these classic characters, they have fallen out of the mainstream. That's a real shame and I wish the Gruelle estate/hometown would work harder to publicize these works to a new generation.

I had the books as a little child and a raggedy ann doll. I purchased them for my daughter and son, who in turn, purchased them for their children. Now I have great grand children and I have purchased the books for them for Christmas. They are lovely little stories; my daughter who is 56 wanted the one she remembered....how raggedy ann got her candy heart, so I got that one too. She is coming to visit me on the 4th of Dec. I cant wait. Johnny Gruelle lost his little girl when she was 13 yrs of age. So sad. Raggedy ann and andy will live on and on. Thank you.Katherine Saeman

Read and loved them as a child. Now I have them to my grandchildren for Christmas, and enjoyed reading the books to them. I’m so glad to see all the illustrations I remember pouring over even before I could read.

The stories are adorable! They present kindness and helpfulness.

The students in my International Kindergarten Class love Raggedy Andy Stories. After listening to all of the Raggedy Ann stories I could find the students were happy to learn of the boy version of the amicable doll.Even with no pictures they love the stories and report they create a movie in their heads of the story as it is read. Since many of the children are from Asian backgrounds, questions and discussions abound during and after reading.

I don't love these stories quite as much as Raggedy Ann Stories, but my two children love them just as much so that's what really matters! A must own for any Raggedy Ann fan!

I bought this for my 3 year old due to the language it brings and the vocabulary is vast.My son loves it very funny and easy for kids to follow and the illustrations are very well.

I have been a fan of raggedy Ann and Andy for a while and I was over the moon to find this book!

This book is just like a childhood book I remember; it is so nice to get a new book for my grandson.
