Simple good alcohol burner. I use it to melt wax for wax seals on envelops. It burns hotter than the little handheld Bic lighters i was using, so it works quicker. Others have noted that the snuff cap is not a tight fit, so you could get loss of alcohol from the tank by evaporation. So I pushed a rubber garden hose washer on the top and the cap snugs right onto it.

I needed a small alcohol lamp to use for shrinking insulating shrink tubing on my hobby projects. I figured this one was as good as any and the price was right. After opening it up and looking at it, I'm returing it immediatly. Here is why: 1) the lamp is taller than it is wide which makes it suseptable to being knocked over. 2) the ceramic wick holder/stopper fits ULTRA lose. So when ( not if) this gets knocked over, alcohol is going to spill out everywhere to creat an uncontrolable fire. Such an event could easily cause major home damage and/or even sever burns to anyone near it. The bottom line is that this thng is an accident waiting to happen. There are too many other lamps out there with sealed openings and more stable designs to risk this level of disaster.
