Makes Sprout Growing Easy
From the female of the family. I grow trays of sprouts -- an excellent addition to, or substitute for, salads. Some, like alfalfa, stand up on their own. Others, including broccoli, peas, sunflowers and radishes, require some support, or it's a tangled mess. These biostrate sheets provide the support some seeds need in order to grow in an efficient and orderly way. When they're ready, I cut the sprouts off the sheets with a sharp knife or pair of scissors. Once the crop has been fully harvested, and I only take enough of the living plants at each serving, you dispose of the used growing mat. This was an answer to a real challenge and so ... Recommended!

Great growing mats.
These are great growing mats. They are easy to cut with scissors if needed. I am on my second mat and my seeds are growing fast. I did use about an inch of soil underneath the mats. I am using them to grow grass for my cats and they love it. I am using red wheat and oat seeds and they are filling in really thick and lush. I will definitely be buying these again when I run out.

Great Growing Mat
This is the cleanest and best growing medium I have used. It retains water well, is easy to cut to size if necessary and is just generally a good growing mat for sprouting seeds.

Great mats!
Can't think of any negatives -- the mats absorb lots of water, are easy to use, lots cleaner than using soil/dirt! Cost is about $2.00 each if you are calculating costs.

Grows black mold exceptionally well.
***UPDATED*** They seemed to work great -- but as others pointed out, they grow black mold.Pros:-Perfect size for my trays-Retains moisture-Great for rooting-Thicker (fluffier) than I thought they'd be-Easily trimmed with scissors-Doesn't affect Ph levels-Helps retain oxygen for healthy rootsCons:-Quickly grows black mold.I am using these with perlite and air-stones/pump for cloning. I was very happy until I noticed black mold growing on the pads -- only on the pads. Nothing else in my clone tank grows mold. I clean with bleach, rewash, and then sanitize with alcohol once more. I have never seen black mold in my tank before, and again it is contained only too the pads on not on the rockwool or perlite. My clones still root in a week or less, and I haven't lost a single clone, but I won't be using these pads again.

Easy to use and cut
I was a complete novice when I started growing Microgreens last year. These pads made it easy to use, cut to fit all kinds of trays and I throw them out in my yard when I am done. I tried the fiber that looks more natural but the fibers come off and seeds do not germinate as well. Within 6 days the arugula seeds are ready to eat with these pads. I tested both at the same time. The other pads take twice as long to germinate and the growth is not as healthy.

Need another option
I've now done five microgreen trials with this grow medium and my verdict is: F.Germination is fine, but far before the 10-day mark this material cannot contain any water.Twice-a-day misting will not keep your greens alive. And twice per day is all microgreens should require.I still hope to grow without soil because I want to sell my greens alive and not harvested. But this grow medium is a fail.
