The issue? A bad RAM module. More-so, it finally stopped working when the second RAM module died. With a project deadline looming, I didn't have the time to get a whole new machine set up, leaving me with 1 choice: repair. My machine started with 4G - not nearly enough for software development let alone much else (yay memory leak!). The modules that failed were an upgrade to 8G b/c at the time my machine (mainly due to OS) didn't support more (I know, I found out the hard way first...).
