I'm upgrading the memory for macmini late 2009. i was told that my mac mini will only take 4gb of memory maxed combined from both slots. is this true?

Don't know about the Mac mini but I have a late 2008 Aluminum MacBook that was designed for 4GB but due to a firmware upgrade that Apple put out, I was able to upgrade my mac to 8GB. I'm really pleased with the resultant speed upgrade. The other thing that greatly helped my speed was taking out the onboard CD player and instead installing 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD) using an adapter bought off Amazon.
