Moldable Cosplay Foam Clay (White) – High Density and Hiqh Quality for Intricate Designs | Air Dries to Perfection for Cutting with a Knife or Rotary Tool, Sanding or Shaping

This stuff is the best. Easy to mold and craft with to produce costume props and components. You can mix colors together, or paint with a decent primer. Hell, you can even mix other substances into it to change the final consistency. However, there are a few warnings I must give for using this! First, store DRY after mixing with a small amount of water. It can grow moldy. Second, when dried, it has less durability and more rigidity than EVA foam. It will dent if you hit something, it is NOT flexible, use Cosclay if you need flexibility and high durability. Third, it’s very heavy wet compared to dry, which you have to account for when molding it. Fourth, you need a good primer or else any paint will crack or chip, and you should only paint when dry and mostly set. Fifth, if you get any color besides white, the color can leech into the water used to mix in.

This was my first experience with foam clay. I love how lightweight it was on the finished item. While making a number of trim pieces and embellishments for a single item, the weight (and balance) of the finished item were a concern. No worries though - those elements barely added any weight at all. I bought & opened this package in December. I didn't open again for several months, and finally pitched it after spotting faint mold discolorations yesterday (in the final days of May). That's an incredible opened-pkg "shelf life" compared to homemade cold porcelain. My only "complaint" is that detailing and edges produced (from the individual molds) are the tiniest bit softer than homemade or commercial air-dry clays. And that attribute just lent a gentle "weathered" quality to my molded elements, which were simply perfect on the finished product. Had I not seen the same embellishments made from other air-dry clays, I wouldn't likely have even noticed this subtle difference. And speaking of differences: The final finished clay work is like tough, rubberized foam. Sealing the piece provided additional reinforcement. While it's nothing you'll be cutting diamonds with, the foam clay was a great option to embellish a hand-made, customized gift. Bonus: If the recipient drops the finished item, or even drops something on it that makes contact with this finished, dried foam clay, the chance of breakage or cracking of the embellishments is virtually zero. I'm very happy with this product's performance and won't hesitate to buy it again for similar applications.

Everything thing I learned about foam clay said it was super sticky. I didn't have that issue with this stuff at all. It stuck well where I put it, but it didn't become a problem on my hands. I actually put off using it for a while cause I wasn't prepared for a mess, but this cleans up very easily.

Edited April 2024 to reflect a con that I found. I've been using this foam clay for a cosplay for about a month or so now. It's definitely lightweight, very moldable, and can be easy to work with if you know what you're doing. Depending on how thick your piece is, it can take a while for it to dry too. Here are the pros and cons I've found so far: Pros: - Becomes more lightweight when dry - Can add a little water when it starts to dry out to make it more pliable - Easily sandable - Easy to work with - Takes molds pretty well - put your clay in your mold and stick it in the freezer for at least few hours. Take it out and immediately pop it out of your mold, and leave it to dry Cons (with some workarounds): - Brittle when fully dry - your piece will likely break if you try to flex it too much, and it doesn't really have the same flexibility as EVA foam does. I've found brushing at least couple of coats of Flexbond will help make it flex when it's dry. (White school glue may also be an alternative, but I am not 100% sure) (April 2024 update: A few months after applying some Flexbond, I've found that it is still brittle. I don't recommend using this foam clay for pieces that will need to flex) - Shrinks when dry - if you're trying to make precisely sized pieces, it does shrink a little bit. I've had to make test pieces to see how much it shrinks, and size some patterns accordingly - Flattens out a bit while drying - instead of using EVA foam to make some beveled strips for armor, I tried using the foam clay to make them instead. After shaping them and leaving them to dry, I noticed the sides kind of deflate and flatten out, losing a little bit of height and shape. I've had to reshape it with my fingers every once in a while, but I don't know if babysitting my piece as it dries is something I want to do. Overall I think this gets the job done, but depending on what you're trying to do with the clay, you'll have to make adjustments.

Good clay product very easy to mold. Feels a little bit like butter slime, but keeps it position really well.

Awesome cosplay foam clay!! taking it out of the package, it feels a bit like silly putty. i recommend kneading it very well (stretching it out and folding it on itself several times, until it's warmed up) I didn't do too good a job of flattening it, but it can do so very well - I was just in a hurry. It sands VERY well! I used a dremel, though regular sandpaper works as well - just takes a while to sand. It's important to note that it doesn't stay up on its own, this stuff works best when putting it on a base. I used upholstery foam. It doesn't stick too well before it dries, so I used a tiny bit of hot glue here and there to keep it in place. Once it dries it sticks perfect! Spray paint also works very well on it! I didn't even get through the entire package, i still have about 1/3 of it left for this giant cosplay skull i did. HIGHLY recommend this stuff. Important to note; this stuff takes a while to dry fully! I'd give it 3 full days before working on sanding or painting it. The thinner it is, the quicker it dries, though.

I bought this for building my Senshi helmet cosplay, and I still have 75 percent left. Stuff is great, it dries without cracking and can be spray painted easily. I highly recommend this product I bought the 3.3 lbs and it has lasted. It is squishy if you layer it and it can apply to Eva foam with just a little water.

Okay, so a couple things to address. I'm reviewing the bulk (3.3lb) gray foam clay, while also comparing it to the small tub of white foam clay I got previously, so it's not coming from pure opinion. These products turned out to be very different, the bulk gray left lacking as a result. Pros: the gray starts out like a proper foam clay. Consistent texture and color, flexible, able to use on multiple surfaces. Sticky, but it eventually took detail well. Cons: it deflated. A lot. Like a flattened piece of roadkill, this clay evaporated all its water and there was very little foam in there to keep it at the original shape it was formed into. It took days to dry, and the end results were a flat loss of texture to a once beautiful, intricate design. The bulk gray foam clay has far more water in it than the tub of white I initially ordered. Meaning when charging by the pound, the pounds are more water than clay when buying the bulk version. And after putting in the work on my design and seeing the deflated results, I feel really disenchantment not only with the product, but with the brand overall. This has pushed me to look elsewhere, and I've already found a better priced, less watery foam clay (less watery on their small batches and their bulk), which I will be ordering from now on. I'm not here to advertise the product I found or trash this one, just to point out that there is more than enough competition where if a customer feels ripped off, they're not going to stick around for it to happen again.

Fast delivery, good amount and quality.Depending on thickness it takes 24-36 hours to fully dry.It expends when it dries and shinks when fully hardened so most small details erase.However, sculpting details at half dried stage solve most of that.You can also sand it when it is fully dried.Very lightweight but sturdy and flexible if slim.Absorbs paint well, but be delicate if doing many layer, it can smudge!Perfect for costume making or trinkets crafters, as myself.It is my second buy!

Best product to work on detail

I loved this product, and I am happy that I found this. I have been using regular clay to make crafts and they’re heavy and crack at times. But this is light weight and easy to deal with. Does not have any smell as well. I wanted to create some intricate Tanjore style craft and this helped! Came out well.

this is the second bag I buy, the first time I bought it, I got the black one, it was really humid and sticky to my fingers, I had to play with it a bit to remove air bubbles and make it less sticky, I was happy with the product, I could leave it a bit on the side while I would be working on my mask and it would still be ok, this second bag I bought is the gray one, it's less humid and sticky, I thought there was a hole, but I didn't see any holes in the package, so I have less time to work with it than the other one, but it's still usable, it's why I leave 4 stars, it's not exactly the same but still very similar, and I can work around it if I add a bit of water. All in all, great product, if you use it for a big piece, either do layers so the material can dry or leave it for an extended period of time, if it's for smaller pieces, it can have great details, yes it expends a bit and doing so removes some details, but you can prevent it if you plan on adding a thin layer on top of first I use it for shaping mask made of EVA and it's great and after 3 years I used all of my 1.5 k
