my mom LOVES this
my mom loves this specific hair dye because her scalp is very sensitive to all those harsh chemicals. like every single one. this is the only one that doesnโt irritate her scalp and it truly works wonders for her!

Good buy, solid grey coverage, a goths fav resource.
I really struggle with black hair dye for some reason, as it frequently wants to wash out of my hair, regardless of how permanent it is. Iโve been using this product for a couple of years now, and it never fails to provide solid grey coverage, with a low mess (as low as it can be) rinse out, and the color is bold and solid black until I need my next root job. It wonโt stain my scalp. Iโm really sensitive to chemicals and the odor is very mild. Pic of a freshly dyed head in the sun.

Allergy Sufferers - This is the Answer!!!
I began dying my hair sparingly about seven years ago. Initially, I had no problems with allergies. Then, about a year later, out of nowhere, I started developing blisters on my scalp with intense burning and itching after each application. Yep! I was allergic to hair dyes. For about five years, I dealt with the suffering associated with trying to shave a few years off my appearance. I tried products from two major companies experiencing the same side effects. I searched and searched and couldn't seem to find a dye that actually works for people like me - until about two years ago. That's when I came upon this product. Thankfully, I gave it a try - and no allergic reaction!!! :-) The application probably doesn't last as long as one of the more toxic brands on the market, but it doesn't cause me pain and it gives me the overall look that I want. I'm very thankful that I found this product, and I highly recommend it to anyone who has also experienced the suffering of an allergic reaction to hair dye!!

Covered gray 100%
I used the Jet Black. Covered grays completely after 40min., cap not needed either and does not come with one. My hair is barely at shoulders, fine, curly had enough to cover it all well. I used to use Henna but just too drying after a while. Switched to non damaging semi permanent dye, sucks caus it is messy, bleeds out when in rain, sweating, swimming, etc. Just not worth it. Stopped using for a few weeks before trying this. Having a hard time finding a quality at home color that was not damaging with the least chemicals that could adequately cover grays, etc. This seems to be the best I could find so far. Hair was slightly dry, just a tad after the conditioner. Because of my hair, age, etc. I only use Moroccan Method cleansers and conditioners, completely botanical, more like creams. Avoiding what I can for chemicals, aside from coloring every 7 weeks. I do wish they'd get rid of the sulfates in this - drying to the hair. Keep working towards fewer chemicals. Overall, very satisfied. I'll have to use it at least 6 months, doing my best to just keep future applications on root growth, to see if it eventually causes damage over time. September - Quick update. It has been over 1-1/2 weeks. Washed a few days after color, had some slight color bleed during wash. No color bleed during second wash. Grays still fully covered, amazingly. Biggest notice is there was no added hair shedding or even breakage, which is usually common the first week or two after a color. Just typical daily normal shedding. I like to oil the ends of my hair a few hours before bed, helps keep condition as some prior color damage still needs to grow out. Still very happy with this hair color to date.

BEST HAIR DYE FOR PEOPLE WITH PPD ALLERGY SWELLING
I recently developed an allergic reaction to black hair dyes. Iโve been dying my hair black for 7 years and about a year ago, I experienced this reaction. I was using Revlon Color Silk. The first time, I assumed it was something I ate. I took a benadryl, passed out and woke up with facial swelling. Then, I tried again, at a hair salon, and I ended up at the hair clinic two days later with my forehead swelling. This visit specifically delayed two days since after the visit, I went to a doctor to receive an allergy shot (basically a shot to reduce allergens within a 6 month period). After two days, I imagine the shot did its work and my reaction started and I ended up at the clinic again. Now, I waited a few days to write this review since my reactions have always delayed by 24-72 hours in the past (even though I can feel something happening around my forehead & scalp). This time, itโs been 4 days I can say this product has caused me NO issues. It is PPD free like it reads on the label and my hair looks black and healthy again. I would highly recommend this to anyone who suffers from severe allergies. ALSO I WILL PREFACE, I did take a benadryl for my own safety prior to dying my hair. However, considering Iโve taken precautions with benadryl in the past and allergen immunotherapy, this shouldnโt have made a difference. It truly did work. 1 MONTH UPDATE: roots (about 1 inch in, are looking brown again) however, it does not look choppy and blends seamlessly. for those with brown/dark brown hair

Not bad... at least, at first.
I like that it is healthier than a lot of the other home dyes out there. It is also at a very, very affordable price. The packaging is nice as it's eco friendly too. I will say that if you have long hair, you may need to get two if you are planning on doing full coverage. I only needed it for half my hair and I have long hair. It did not cover quite as much as I would have liked, so that was disappointing. But it did dye my hair black and in record time. The smell was okay. It has a smell of course but it is not as strong as ones I have used in the past. I have not used it on my scalp, so I can't say if it is irritating or not. This is a great brand though. I'm sure it is good for most skin types. 1/21/21 EDIT: Okay, so it has been almost 20 days and sadly what was once jet black HAS faded a few shades to dark brown. I do use a color safe shampoo that has like six ingredients and is free of a whole ton of things, so it is not the fact that I shower every day I'm sure. I've used permanent hair dyes before and they have all lasted at least three or four months at least before losing just a little bit of their vibrancy. This is the first time I have used so-called "permanent" dye and it has started fading significantly within the first month. I know there are semi-permanent dyes that are supposed to last approximately 27 or so washes, but this box was marked clearly as permanent and not marked as 27 day semi-permanent hair dye... so I am not sure why it is acting like that's the case. A bummer but oh well. I know that more natural products tend to have a hard time doing as "good" of a job unless they get it all just right, but I've always liked this brand, so it's disappointing that it did not work out so well for me. To give an idea, my original hair color is chestnut brown and it was virgin hair. To give any context to those curious.

Hallelujah for allergy sufferers
I developed a severe allergy to most hair colors (tried several brands), so I tried this one with fingers crossed. Coloring #1 - I did a true patch test because of my allergies. That went fine, so I tried coloring my hair 24 hours later. The color didn't work, as I guess it was too late. Coloring #2 - I applied the dye to my hair immediately after mixing. My head started to itch after about 15 minutes, so I got nervous and rinsed the dye out. No problems, but of course it didn't work great either as it wasn't on my head long enough. Colorings #3-7 - I followed the instructions, and am happy to say it worked great! While I only use this to cover up grays at my hairline and mid-scalp, have never completely saturated my head, so far I have had no allergy problems whatsoever. My scalp does itch slightly while the dye is on, but the itching stops as soon as I rinse it out, and I've never have any residual effects. (Compared to, the last time I used a different brand with the least amount of dye on my head possible for as short as possible, I still ended up with swelling and rash for days.) My only minor quibble is that this product is a little more work to apply, and has to stay on the hair a little longer, than other root touch-ups I used before the allergies took over. However, it's an allergy-saving miracle, and is the only hair color I trust now.

FINALLY No Reaction!
It was slow getting delivered but it arrived. I have always had scalp and skin sensitivity to hair color. Severe rashes and swollen glands. I just finished drying my hair and what can I say. No reaction whatsoever. Beautiful deep black color. Covered the grey, my hair is shinny and no tangles. Would highly recommend. My days of taking benadryl and suffering are gone. Will definitely be ordering again.
