My new favorite EDC knife that checks all the boxes
Quick summary: beautiful construction, design, smooth operation, sharp blade, sits deep in pocket. Longer version: What I look for in a great EDC knife is a flip opener, blade under 3” (legal limit in some places), tip-up/deep pocket carry desgin with a clip that allows knife to remain hidden, quality construction, beautiful design, holds an edge, sturdy blade. My previous favorite EDC knife was the Zero Tolerance 0770CF and it was amazing but I lost it and couldn’t bring myself to spend $165 on another one. I then got a Kershaw Leek and bought a 3rd party deep carry titanium clip for it so it would sit lower in pocket. That worked well for a fairly cheap knife although the skinny tip broke off and the “assisted” flip opening no longer works very well. It actually takes more effort to open it than the non-assist flipper on this Civivi Momentum. I’ve posted pics of my old Leek to show it is about the same size open and closed, but the Momentum blade is much sturdier and seems to hold an edge better as well. Notice how the standard clip on the Momentum bends at the edge of the knife, allowing for complete concealment. This has always been a really important feature to me for an EDC knife and it seems Civivi “gets” this as most all their folders have this same design — tip up, deep carry. Perfect. I also appreciate a more classic, functional, and non-aggressive design. I don’t need a knife that looks like it should be used to fight demons in middle earth, although there is nothing wrong with that :-) The Momentum is half the price of my beloved Zero Tolerance, but seems every bit as nice in quality, style, and construction. The bearings are very smooth and have just enough resistance to allow fast opening and zero play. It seems solid. It also closes with a reassuring snap detent that is not aggressive, but noticeable. It opens so smoothly and quickly that it is actually easier and faster than the “assisted” opening Leek that I own. This knife fits and feels comfortable in hand and the blade design is much more useful for a wider variety of projects than the Leek slim blade. The blade came nicely sharpened and I have not needed to resharpen it. I love the carbon fiber overlay and the non-traditional damascus design is very cool (although I do love the traditional layered designs a lot). I have not needed any customer service, so cannot comment on that. I also have not used it extensively to know how it holds up over time and hard use. My initial reaction after a couple of days with it is that this is my new favorite knife and I’ll be buying more from Civivi if it holds up well. Overall a great knife at this price.

Very pretty, solid design, very sharp, snaps open, one handed operation
I bought this knife as a gift for my wife whose preferences require an exceptional appearance. This is a very attractive knife. She liked the Damascus pattern a lot and absolutely loved the sheen of the gold and black scales. She also really liked how is snaps open with the action of a switchblade. She showed it to her mother, who immediately ordered one, too. The only thing she didn't like was the feel in her had due to the pocket clip she has no use for. It was easy to remove. From a functional perspective I can say this knife is relatively lightweight at 2.7 oz. As it came from the factory the entire length of the blade was sharp enough to glide through a piece of printer paper. A few strokes across a strop and it was push-cut (no sawing action) sharp. Overall, this is a very nice product and, in my opinion, well worth the price.

Genuinely good knife
These knives come razor sharp with a beautiful Damascus blade and real wood handle. There’s even a bearing to make the action super smooth. They have a great value proposition and hold up well to use. Civivi has become my new favorite brand of pocket knife. I now own four of them and will use them over my Spyderco

Less than I imagined…. My fault.
I have other Civivi knives. I ordered this one for work projects. I wanted something that wasn’t as “Nice.” Don’t get me wrong, this knife is nice, but not so expensive that I would be afraid of losing or breaking it. It looked like the perfect knife, for what I would use it for. I ordered it and I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. When it arrived, I was less than excited. It was not what I had imagined. The advertisement was correct, the quality is great, the open and closing is awesome, but the size… oh the size, it does matter. Bahahahaha. The lack of excitement was my fault. The advertisement read correctly. I didn’t pay close enough attention to it and “I paid for it.” I like a bigger (longer/wider) and heavier knife. Bigger blade, bigger handle and more weight. The other Civivi knives I have are exactly that. Nobody to blame but myself, that is why I rated it a 5 star. It is exactly as advertised. The quality is unquestionable. The blade is sharp!! The knife feels solid. The movement is beautiful. Satisfied, just not excited.

Excellent Gentleman's EDC for the Price
The Elementum from Civivi is an excellent casual pocket carrier that conveys a sense of style, sophistication, and class. It's not too small and won't get lost in your pocket, but not so large as noticeably weigh the material of your pants down. It's there when you needed it, and virtually invisible when you don't (especially with that deep-pocket carry clip). That said, it could be a wee bit larger, but then again I have large hands. Aesthetically speaking, this model of the Elementum is certainly pleasing to the eye. The Damascus blade (for real, not just a pattern; said to be folded 110 times, according to the manufacturer) is most assuredly an eye-catcher and practically a conversation starter. The scales have a very nice gold-flecking in their otherwise smooth, glossy black marbled finish, yet don't seem to make the handle awkward or slick to hold onto. If I had a complaint about this knife, it would be two fold: First, the gimping on the liner-lock is a bit aggressive and somewhat uncomfortable to manipulate. If you like to fidget with your blade, your thumb will quickly start to complain because of this. Likewise, it would be nice if the left scale and frame (right side when inverted to work it) was just a hair lower or scalloped to aid in thumbing that lock. Secondly, unlike my more-premium WE Nitro Mini, the flipper action on this Civivi is noticably stiffer and doesn't glide as smoothly. While that will probably work in over time, a too-casual flick of your finger can fail to fully deploy the blade (thus requiring an additional shake or two to lock in place, in turn making you look like an idiot). That said, for $100, you're getting one heck of a great deal for a genuine Damascus steel gentleman's knife!

Stunning EDC flipper
This knife is absolutely beautiful, and extremely well made. I inspected it under 100x magnification and can confirm that the Damascus is real, and not a fake laser etch you’ll find on cheaper imitation blades. The scales are true carbon fiber, and not just patterned G10. The blade features a perfect double hollow grind that’s truly razor sharp... curious to see how well the edge holds up over time. Ball bearing pivot is butter smooth, and the flipper works every time. I still wouldn’t mind a small thumb stud as a back-up, but not a deal breaker. Pocket clip is sturdy and allows for deep carry. I’m very impressed overall and hope it’s durability matches it’s good looks!

A flex and a half at parties
Very cool knife. Looks great and works great. The bearings are really smooth, probably the smoothest out of all of my knives. The handle made with the carbon and copper suspended resin looks amazing. Not sure how durable it is though as it is very light. The blades sharpness did dull within about 2 weeks and all I used it for was opening boxes. Cardboard does dull knives more than you would think so that's not completely unexpected. Its my new EDC and will probably get another when/if this one gives out.
