I know thorogood has a line that is made in the USA, and I thought this was one of those boots. With that said, it feels and looks we'll made. I've only owned them about a week and have only worn them a few times to break them in before I wear them on duty. I'm confident that they will last as long as every other boot made in China. I usually get about a year before they really start falling apart. Ive owned and still own other thorogood boots, some have failed, sole separation. I contacted customer service, took pics to email them and they sent me new boots. So it's a plus side if they do start falling apart. **Q: Are these metal detector compliant ?** A: I say yes to metal detector compliant **Q: Are these easy to slip onw/the side zipper??** A: Very easy on and off.
