KOHLER K-8801-VS Duostrainer Sink Strainer, Vibrant Stainless

Like all the other reviews, wow, heavy cast iron, great quality product, as usual with Kohler. ::Heads Up!!:: The drain plug has an o-ring that mught have to be lubricated to seat properly in the basket. My sink couldn't hold water for five minutes. After a few days I put liquid dawn dishsoap on the o-ring with my finger, tested it and the sink held water overnight. Had soap not worked I probably would have tried olive oil. 2 weeks later and still good.

I was very surprised at how nice this drain fixture is. I know its just a drain for sink, but this thing has some weight to it. The main body is not just a stamped piece of metal. The upper part is a nice stainless steel and fit the sink perfectly. (Kohler Sink as well). The strainer part is nice looking as well. The stopper uses an O-ring for the seal, which could be cheaply and easily replaced if ever needed. For me, this strainer/drain was worth the extra money. I know I could have spent as little as $12 for essentially the same thing, but there is no comparison between the two as far as durability and appearance.

Now this is a sink strainer! None of that thin sheet metal in this strainer. This is made from cast stainless steel. Kohler is the best hands down. I actually installed this in my motorhome as I couldn’t stop the thin sheet metal one’s that I had from leaking. This one doesn’t leak and probably never will, it’s built like a tank.

This strainer is expensive compared to others, but as I'm spending a considerable amount of money renovating my kitchen with a new sink, fixtures and granite countertops, I didn't want to skimp on the plumbing. I could tell this item was good quality based solely on the weight of the shipping box. The strainer is made entirely of heavy-gauge stainless steel, which is polished like fine jewelry, and brass. I expect this strainer will last for a very long time. My only concern is that the rubber gasket on the stopper is very thin (1/8"). I expect this gasket will eventually fail and need replacement. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase of this strainer.

These sink drainers are built like tanks! Definitely heavy-duty and of the highest quality. Maybe a bit of "overkill", but if you are spending $1,000+ for your sink and want the drains to match the stainless steel this is the way to go.
