use 1inch or 2inch plates?  Description states both?  Also, what weight are these tested at?  I'm not looking to lift heavy, but 60lbs or less?

Hi Holly; Happy new year. I been working out for twenty years now and weigh 280. But I'm not vain because I try to be Catholic the best I can. Though thats hard anymore. If you use two inch hole weights on a one inch bar, the weight may slide off the bar onto your foot. But here is a cheat I came up with because I also have two sets of weights and not enough of one or the other. Put on a one inch weight then a two inch weight then a one inch weight after. This will be like two washers on the inside and outside. Lifting heavy is not important. Most important of all else is doing the work out the right way. Stand striaght at all time's and bend each joint just an inch where your lifting. Squats, never straighten the knee. Stand with an half inch to an inch to prevent joint damage as you lift later in life. The phrase; no pain no gain is a joke. Even though I got up to curling 215lbs. I mostly worked out doing several different kinds of arm work outs to get this. Two of the curls is called 1) spider curls 2) and prone curls.  Not just standing and curling. Find and buy Joe weider's Ultimate bodybiulding. I bought this when it came out in 1989 for $18'  I'm sure there is new books but this one has everything. First half history about Arnold and Lou and many others and the secound half shows and discribes all the work outs you will do the right way without hurting yourself. Don't take drugs to get bigger fast because of serious side effects later in life. PLEASE take your time. Keep up the good work out without taking dares that will harm you ok. How much does the dumbbell handle weigh? Thanks.

The dumbbells weight 1lb each and the curl bar 3lbs. The dumbbells can handle up to 50lbs (25/25) and the curl bar up to 100lbs (50/50). Hope that helped.

How much does the curl bar weigh?

It's hollow and very light maybe 5-8lbs. It has nice knurling on the grip and feels good in the hand. Great buy anyhow.

How many 1in plates can fit on each side of the curling bar?

7, maybe 8 if they interlock well.  And I'm using a spring clip to hold mine.
