6mm is the smallest size of tape that can be used by few of Brother's P-Touch labellers although most accept at least 9 or 12 mm. This size was not needed in recent years although once ideal to edge-label CD and DVD jewel cases but now required for a very different need.Compatible tapes from various brands, at least one from XemaX, are among those used in a P-Touch PT-P750W without any encountered problems. In some instances, a compatible tape was a brighter white than the equivalent Brother tape, the printed text equally deep so raising the perceived visible contrast; most were apparently identical in tonality. Compatible tapes were also used with a competing brand's laminated tape labellers also without any issues ever arising. Thermally-printed paper labels will eventaully fade on exposure to heat and light, these will not.As a pack, the price is actually lower than typical retail pricing for a single OEM equivalent and similar differentials apply to other sizes and colours; however, with many brands available there is a very small price differential between them size-for-size and colour-for-colour. For frequent users, cumulative cost-savings can be significant.
