I find it the easiest and most effective way of determining whether plants have an early infestation with spider mite or mealy bug (before it becomes obvious to the naked eye). Now, a several-year-old model whose batteries had died has been resurrected with the new availability of inexpensive LR927 button batteries. It is working like a new purchase. Another model that had been left out in the rain, ignored, for years still offers fine clear magnification … but its electrodes have corroded. New batteries, not surprisingly, do not relight the long-dead LEDs.
