These headphones are a great replacement for px100, though note that the px100s are very boomy, and you will have to get used to the sound of these headphones if switching from them.Construction quality- Top notch, hair doesn't get caught in band. Feels nice, 3d axis makes it more comfortable. Good clamp strength, soft earpads. The only complaint I have is that the 3d axis squeaked pretty bad for the first couple weeks I owned it.Sound Quality- Amazing clarity and well defined instruments and vocals, not much bass, but good for a portable set of headphones. If you aren't looking for a portable pair, try one of the studio headphones instead; Otherwise, def give these guys a shot!

bought as a Christmas present for husband for on-the-go listening: he is really pleased with the quality, given what I paid for them. They ain't Bose, but they're way better than earbuds and they fold up nicely for travel. Not overly and aggressively bass-y, which we consider a plus.

After about a year or so of light usage these headphones broke. The left side stopped working entirely. They should have held up better for the price. The sound was fine for the short time they lasted but overall my experience was very poor.

First, for those who wear glasses, yes very comfortable to use ! They don't pinch your ears against the frames. I have been using them for only a few days, well under what I believe is the break in period but the sound is very good. I do not hear muddled bass or mixed mids and/or highs. These may not be the best but for my lunch time walks they work. Yes, they are open and leak and I'm fine with that as I can hear what's happening outside my music world and be aware of my surroundings. I can still hear every beat and nuance in the blues and jazz I prefer to listen to. Definitely recommend.

Great sound for this price - similar to Koss Porta-pro, maybe a little better, with a little more bass.Mostly open air design is nice for use at work where annoying co-workers and manager types keep asking you questions, and for walking outside where you need to be able to hear approching cars, bikes, killers, and so on.Easy to unfold and put on, easy to take off.Nice flexible cord, not too long. May actually be too short if you have a long neck like E.T., though.Very good comfort level for me. Pads sit nicely on my ears, are tight enough to stay put, but not too tight for long term wear.

I have two pair of the old PX-100 headphones. I bought these for a new unit and I like them very much. The comfort is much improved as compared to older AKG compact models that used a steel headband. I think durability will be okay, but I have some concerns about the 3D Axis construction. Sound quality (which is most important) is outstanding, much better than I expected to be honest. I believe these will be more appealing to those who have concerns about the PX-100 (version 2) that is now available on the market.

AKG 420. These headphones sound very much like the Koss Potato Pro. On some well produced rock tracks the 420 can give off a pretty good representation of space in the room where the songs were recorded. On other rock tracks it is full bodied and never ever harsh. Guitars and other stringed instruments are reproduced authentic as far as what I know from listening to rock music for a long time. The semi open design is probably what makes the 420 able to do this. Voices are true. if the recording is clean it sounds clean. If the recording has a lot of effects in it the 420 will produce it so that you know the true intention of the creator. At the end, the sense of spacial it that the 420 recreates makes it a good choice verses closed back on ear headphones For me. The Bose over ears produce real instrument timbres but cannot create the sense of space like the 420.

My first pair of AKG headphones. Was looking for something light to use with my laptop and iPad. The other two headphones I have similar in style are Sennheisers. One being the PX-100 and the other being HD-228. I like the AKG's more than the HD-228's which are extremely bass heavy. The AKG's are very well balanced headphones sonic wise. They come with a nice case and neat box. I think I will get a few years of pleasant listening pleasure out of them. The blue cloth around them also is a nice touch. They are foldable, if this is something your need. A little tight so far but so were my other phones. I think a bit of wear will fix this. Not much more I can say, really decent and I think even better than some of its more expensive siblings.

J'ai perdu le mien et je n'ai pas hésité à reprendre le même , léger confortable , très bon rendu de la musique . Je l'utilise même au lit , plié pour m'endormir en musique , juste posé plié sur mon oreiller en guise de haut parleur .. Génial ! De plus son prix n'est pas excessif ! Je le recommande vraiment !

Realmente el sonido de estos auriculares AKG son magnificos, he quedado realmente sorprendido por la calidad de sonido que ofrecen a un precio realmente irrisorio. Se nota en su sonido la calidad de esta marca y eso que vengo de la gama alta de AKG, pero repito calidad mucha calidad en su sonido en estos K 420 y escucharlos en mi soni xperia sp es realmente un placer.Asi que los recomiendo a todos y de verdad sin ninguna duda.Es verdad que la longitud del cable puede ser algo pequeño, pero no se puede pedir todo y además son plegables.

Nel mio caso, ho avuto modo di confrontarla con un'altra cuffia di pari prezzo: la sennheiser PX100 (prima serie). Ebbene si potrebbe dire che la K420 tenda a colorare un pò il souno, nel senso che si ha una sensazione di enfatizzazione sui bassi e un pò sui medi, quindi i "puristi" potrebbero dire che il comportamento non è lineare e risultare un pò affaticante col tempo.Quello che posso dire personalmente è che questa "piccola" cuffia rilascia sensazioni impensate per le sue dimensioni, i bassi sono profondi e scendono molto più in basso della PX100. La sensazione generale è di pieno appagamento.Sono sicuro di consigliarla a tutti, anche a quelli che hanno un pò di reticenza nei confronti di cuffie entry-level.Per quello che costa, poi, non credo abbia rivali.

i've been looking for a good but not to expensive pair of headphones for a while. and i must say i have found it with these i'm no expert on the technicalities but i can say they sound clear (even when loud) not muffled like some others and i find the build quality good. the only down side i've found is the cable is short it could being longer from the end of the jack plug to where the cable goes into the headphone is only 107cm i think it could do with another 50cm. but all in all i'm still very happy with them!

Nachdem ich ursprünglich auf der Suche nach einem AKG K 412 P war, jedoch mich meine Probleme, die ich schon beim K 24 P hatte (Kopfschmerzen durch den Druck der zwei Polster am Bügel) und die nicht-Verfügbarkeit abschreckten, war ich sehr erstaunt, als AKG plötzlich die Produktpalette mit neuen, kompakten Kopfhörern aufwertete.Fest stand, dass nur noch ein (halb)offener Kopfhörer in Frage kommen würde, da mich die Performance der geschlossenen Produkte bisher absolut nicht überzeugen konnte. In-Ear war für den täglichen Gebrauch der öffentlichen Transportmittel auch weniger praktikabel, da ich so mehr als einmal meine Haltestelle verpasste.Ein Schuss ins Blaue also, genauer ins Grau-Blaue.VerarbeitungDer Kopfhörer macht einen sehr soliden Eindruck, der Bügel besteht zum Großteil aus Kunststoff, nur der Mittelteil ist ein weicher Gummi, welcher jedoch nicht an den Haaren klebt. Die Zeit, in der man sich mit AKG-Bügelkopfhörern regelmäßig Haare ausgerissen hat, sind dank der geschlossenen Bauweise des Bügels auch vorbei.Der Bügel ist in Stufen jeweils links und rechts verstellbar und rastet deutlich spürbar ein.Wieder ist der Kopfhörer zusammenfaltbar, auch wenn hier nicht mehr die kompakte Form der Vorgänger erreicht wird. Komplett zusammengeklappt kommt der Kopfhörer so auf 13.5cm x 11.5cm.Da die beiden Kopfhörermuscheln nun nebeneinander zum liegen kommen (mit derselben Seite nach unten bzw. oben), ist der K 420 P tatsächlich flacher, jedoch in allen anderen Dimensionen auffällig größer.Die mitgelieferte Tasche fällt deutlich größer aus mit 20cm x 14.5cm. Im Vergleich hierzu wirkt der ältere K 24 P wesentlich kompakter (12.5cm x 9.5cm mit einer exakt passenden Tasche)Das erspart zwar viel Fingerfertigkeit beim Verpacken des Kopfhörers, eine etwas kompaktere Tasche wäre jedoch sehr praktisch gewesen. Ein Reißverschluss ist auch nicht mehr zu haben, stattdessen gibt's einen Kordelzug.Das Anschlusskabel ist, im Gegensatz zum K 416 P, wieder dicker und in etwa vergleichbar mit dem K 24 P und K 412 P. Der Stecker ist länglich und nicht abgewinkelt.KomfortKomfort war bisher bei den älteren Mini-Bügelkopfhörern nicht ein sehr herausragender Punkt. Die alten Modelle verfügten über zwei Polster am Bügel, die je nach eingestellter Größe an einer anderen Stelle anlagen und bei längerem Tragen oder bei Druck zumindest bei mir sehr unangenehme Kopfschmerzen auslösten. Die Muscheln selbst waren (bei den offenen Varianten) nicht immer ideal gepolstert.Der K 420 P macht hier einiges wett. Der gesamte Bügel ist angenehm zu tragen und hat keine herausstechenden Druckpunkte mehr. Die Polsterung der Kopfhörermuscheln erscheinen mir wesentlich komfortabler. Selbst bei längerem Tragen ist das Plastik hinter der Polsterung nicht spürbar.Skepsis kommt jedoch ob der Austauschbarkeit der Polster auf, da diese mit dem Gehäuse verbunden sind.SoundSchlussendlich bringt der beste Tragekomfort nichts, wenn der Kopfhörer keinen guten Klang produziert.Getestet wurde der K 420 P an einem Cowon iAudio U3 Musik-Player, welcher mit entsprechend hochbitratigen Musikdateien im Ogg Vorbis Format befüllt wurde.Zum Vergleich kamen der beim U3 mitgelieferten Knopf-Kopfhörer, der AKG K 24 P, K 324 P und K 416 P zum Einsatz.Da bereits der mitgelieferte Kopfhörer vom K 24 P übertrumpft wurde, wurden weitere Vergleiche innerhalb der AKG-Produktlinie durchgeführt.Der erste Eindruck war eine durchaus positive Überraschung. Brilliante und schnelle Höhen, genau definierter Bass und auch der Mitteltonbereich scheut sich nicht, seine Präsenz zu zeigen.Überraschenderweise ist dieser AKG nicht nur im Tieftonbereich stark, sondern wirkt über alle Bereiche gleich stark vertreten. Wenn es einmal laut wird, tritt der Bass nicht, wie bei manch anderen Produkten, in den Vordergrund.Wenn etwas knackst oder rauscht, dann ist das definitiv ein Bestandteil des Liedes und nicht die Schuld des Kopfhörers.Im Vergleich zum durchwegs gutem, offenen K 24 P fallen vor allem die extreme Genauigkeit und Schnelligkeit des K 420 P auf. Wo der K 24 P stellenweise überfordert wirkt, blüht der K 420 P erst so richtig auf. Die beim K 24 P beeindruckende Soundkulisse um den Hörer herum wird auch beim K 420 P beibehalten und kommt durch den kristallklaren Sound voll zur Geltung. War da gerade etwas hinter mir?Als nächstes kam der geschlossene, eher mittelmäßige K 416 P zu seinem Einsatz. Die Eigenart des K 416 P, alles in Bass ertränken zu wollen (und damit sogar Erfolg zu haben), ließ den K 420 P rasch als Sieger dastehen. Genau definierten Bässe, Anfang und Ende von verschiedenen Tönen und eine herausstechende Brillanz sind alles Dinge, die man beim K 420 P und definitiv nicht beim K 416 P findet.Zu guter letzt wurde der AKG K 324 P, ein In-Ear Kopfhörer, mit dem K 420 P verglichen. Der K 420 P schafft selbstverständlich keine solch extreme Abschottung von der Umwelt, was mir persönlich jedoch nur allzu recht ist. Dennoch ist es ab moderaten Lautstärkepegeln nicht mehr möglich, sich mit jemanden zu unterhalten.War ich bisher ein großer Freund des Klangs des In-Ears, so wurde ich umso mehr vom K 420 P überrascht. Die Schnelligkeit des K 324 P wurde vom K 420 P noch einmal übertroffen, auch in Sachen Brillanz und Mitteltonbereich macht der K 420 P Kleinholz aus dem K 324 P.FazitDer K 420 P ist seinen Preis mehr als wert. Die extreme penible Genauigkeit, Geschwindigkeit und das gleichmäßige Verhalten in allen Tonbereichen machen den AKG K 420 P zu dem besten mir bekannten Mini-AKG Kopfhörern (wobei ich hier anmerken muss, dass es mir noch nicht möglich war, andere Kopfhörer aus der neuen Produktlinie zu testen - wobei die schlechten Erfahrungen mit den geschlossenen Minis da keine große Hoffnungen aufkommen lassen).Einziger Nachteil des K 420 P ist, dass mancher sich einen neuen Musik-Player kaufen wird müssen, da der K 420 P gnadenlos wiedergibt, was er zu fressen kriegt - inklusive aller Fehler und Verzerrungen.
