Jules vs. the Ocean Hardcover – Picture Book, June 16, 2020

My two daughters absolutely love this book! It's cute pictures and fun story are extremely memorable.

My toddlers loved reading this book. I switch out their bookshelves every month. This one was part of June’s book rotation. It’s cute and a fun read for summer. My son loved the illustrations.

Cute and for a great price

Jules vs. the Ocean is a lighthearted story about determination and finding joy in failure. Its tongue-in-cheek nature makes it a fun read-aloud book. The bright, energetic illustrations are a true compliment to the tale. This would especially be a fun read prior to a beach trip.The publisher’s suggested age range for Jules vs. the Ocean is 4-8, but despite some nuanced humor that feels a bit old to me. My 6-year-old enjoyed it, but didn’t find it compelling enough to come back to on a regular basis. Its simplistic nature is better suited for 2-6-year-olds, or an older sibling paralleling the sister in the story and reading it to someone younger.*Review based on advanced copy provided by publisher in exchange for my hones opinion.

Goddaughter loved the book!

I have a classroom of 2-3 year olds and we have this book (and Hardly Haunted) that we read regularly and the kids absolutely love both of them. I love the writer’s tone and the way the story is written. We also enjoy the illustrations.

Read it for story hour then played with sand. They loved it.
