Scratching My Head at the Polarizing Reviews ~ Until THIS happened! [UPDATED]
*************************** UPDATED REVIEW: *************************** Well friends, there is good news. After the folks at Soundbot saw my original review [posted below], they added a comment about how I should reach out to them via email with my order information and copy my review. So I did! And guess what? I received a quick email response letting me know that I would be receiving a new SoundBot® SB510 HD Water Resistant Bluetooth 3.0 Shower Speaker, Handsfree Portable Speakerphone with Built-in Mic, 6hrs of playtime, Control Buttons and Dedicated Suction Cup for Showers, Bathroom, Pool, Boat, Car, Beach, & Outdoor Use - Black at no extra charge. Ok, I'll check it out. #BAM! A few days later, there it was. Arrived safe and sound through the U.S. Post and included 2 charge cords. Nice!! I tried to charge it up straight away, however the charge wasn't staying on for more than a second or two. "Oh no," I thought, "not again!" But then I wondered if they had specially tested this replacement unit and had it fully charged for my immediate enjoyment. BOOM! They did! Ha ha ha. I stuck this thing up in our shower once again and linked to it instantly. The music was loud and I was happy, yet still cautious for the first few days... How long was the battery charge going to last this time? OVER A MONTH! What?! Yeah, you heard it right. The awesome little speaker kept rocking out the shower tunes for over a month before it finally turned itself off. No way!! I plugged in one of the chargers and let it sit overnight. That was a few weeks ago. So far, after a single charge, it looks like it's going to go for yet another month. This thing is brilliant! Sure, it wasn't ideal that I needed a replacement, but the way SoundBot handled this was extraordinary. I had to update my review from 1 star to 5. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! And, if you get a dud, don't worry. SoundBot will take care of you, in a 100% free way. Thanks, SoundBot! AWESOME!!! *************************** My Original Review: *************************** THE GOOD: Like many 1-star reviewers have stated: at first I was able to charge the SoundBot SB510 easily, as well as pair it via Bluetooth to my Android Galaxy S5 phone. The sound is excellent in the shower, it stays stuck to the walls pretty easily, and overall not bad for the price. THE BAD: The main problem is that you have to re-charge this little guy every time you want to use it. The charge only lasts for 1 shower (tested up to 20 minutes) and then it needs a full re-charge again. This morning, I discovered that even if you fully charge the SoundBot and then attempt to use it a few days after that charge, forget it. it's dead and needs a fresh new charge again. FINAL CONCLUSION: From the generous number of positive reviews, mixed in with a heaping side of negative reviews, it appears the consistency of this product is the main issue. For some people, this product will work as expected. For others, it's a painful waste of time. If you are a gambler, take a shot and hope for the best, but if you want something a little more reliable, I would suggest spending some extra cash for something more reliable.

A great speaker for an insanely low price
I had mentioned wanting a shower speaker to a friend, and he gave a glowing recommendation for this little guy. Seeing that it was only $10, I decided to give it a shot. WOW am I impressed. You don't expect something this tiny, and especially something this cheap to pack as much of a punch as it does! The sound quality is incredibly impressive for a small, cheap, bluetooth speaker. Obviously it's no high-end surround sound system, but what do you expect from a waterproof shower speaker? Pairing is super easy, I pair it with my phone and then play Spotify playlists on it. The buttons on the front allow you to play/pause, skip forward and backwards, and turn the unit on and off. Apparently there's a speakerphone system too, but I've never used it. One tiny qualm I have is that I wish there had been separate buttons for "skip songs" and "increase/decrease volume". The way it's designed, if you press the forward/back buttons it skips songs, while holding down the buttons for a second or two changes the volume. Or even if it had been the other way around: I change the volume more often than I skip songs, and it's annoying when you go to change the volume and end up accidentally skipping to a different song because you didn't hold the button long enough. Grr, minor inconveniences. The battery life is impressive. It lasted for my first two months of infrequent (only during showers) use on a single charge. There's a large suction cup on the back that holds the unit to the tile, and I never noticed it slipping or coming un-suctioned. Note that you should probably place it in a location where the shower isn't going to hit it with water. It's water-*resistant*, it's not water-PROOF. Meaning that it's okay if you push the buttons with wet hands, or if some moisture gets in it'll be fine. But if you're directly spraying it with water, I wouldn't be surprised if it causes problems. Overall, I'd say this speaker is DEFINITELY worth the money. I'd definitely recommend it, it's shockingly good quality for a ridiculously low price.

Great Little Speaker
I purchased both the SoundBot SB510 and Wusic bluetooth wireless speakers. I recommend the Wusic speaker by a one star margin due principally to Wusic connecter, sturdiness and slightly better sound. Both work great in the shower and are improvements over the phone speaker. Here is a side by side comparison. Price. When I purchased the units the two were price equivalents. Oddly, I have seen various prices (all prime) so the Wusic can be $1 cheaper to $8 more. Prices fluctuate so I would not pay more than a couple of dollars premium for the Wusic before going to the SoundBot. Sound. The Wusic has a slight edge but only in side by side comparisons. The Wusic was a little crisper at the higher volumes. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy phone speaker both were fantastic improvements. Compared to the Apple 5 phone speaker, both provided greater volume and depth. In other words, these are great additions. But neither are stereo nor can two be paired to be stereo. There are other speakers, like the HMDX Jam Plus, can be paired so that they play in stereo, but those stereo speakers are not water resistant. Putting the unit's suction cup on a hard surface (even if the suction is not employed) improves the bass sound. So don't just put the unit in a hanging shower organizer or the bass is not as good. Volume. Many complain about loudness. I think that they don't realize that there are two volume controls, the speaker's and the phone's. I suggest putting the speaker to full volume and then adjusting the volume through the phone, which I find easier to manipulate. Bluetooth Pairing. Both speakers pair very easily, just turn on the speaker and the phone blutooth function (my preferred order) and they pair automatically. The Wusic has an obnoxious loud voice while the SoundBot is quieter. There were occasional Bluetooth drop offs but I blame my Galaxy. Both units easily switch from one phone to the other but I think that we caused interference once or twice and had to turn off one phone's Bluetooth. Both have about a ten yard range. The SoundBot had an endlessly blue/red flashing light that I could not figure out, which knocked it down another peg for me. Battery. Both came charged and seemed to hold similar charge times. However, a big difference for me was the power connector. The Wusic has a standard mini-USB of which I have a few power cords. The SoundBot has a small circular non-standard charger. I hate it being non-standard so I knock it a full star for that alone. It complicates the SoundBot's charging for me as I am always looking for its unique power cord. Controls. Both have the forward/back buttons double as volume buttons. The SoundBot feels much flimsier in its construction but I liked the size of its buttons. Despite the size, the flimsiness of the construction brought me back to the Wusic. Both can take calls but in the shower conversations are very difficult due to ambient noise. Conclusion. I went back and bought a second Wusic for the office as they were still price equivalent. The Wusic is sturdier with a universal charger. If that is not important to you then go by the lowest price. EDIT: Third time's a charm. If you are not concerned about water-proofing then the speaker to get is: DKnight Magicbox Ultra-Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker,Powerful Sound with build in Microphone, Works for all smart phones. The Dknight ($30) has a much fuller sound than the Wusic or Soundbot.

Great for the price and convenience, would buy again.
Bought this a few weeks ago for under $10 with Prime, and, in short, I'm pretty thrilled. I'm a podcast-aholic, so, while my iPad is tolerable for listening to music while in the shower, it's just not loud enough to really articulate people speaking. Initially, I had a little trouble pairing it, but that's coz I didn't read the directions, lol. After a quick glance, it was easy. I found that, while other Bluetooth items pair automatically, this does require me to pick it from the list of available or remembered devices. Doesn't bother me, but I thought I'd mention it. The suction cup is sufficient, nearly the size of the speaker itself. I stick it up on the wall opposite my shower head, and, if the wall or suction cup isn't already moist, I just quickly run it suction cup side up under the shower. Once you've applied it moist, that sucker is NOT falling down. I also use it on the bathroom mirror, for when I'm bleaching or dyeing my hair. Similar to the shower, if the suction cup isn't moist, just sprinkle some water on it, and it works like a charm. I'm sure the suction cup will -eventually- fail, since most do, but, for under $10, I have no problem buying a new one every other year or so. On second thought, I've not fully examined how the suction cup is attached, so it may be able to be replaced. Either way, it's cheap enough that it's not a big deal. As far as sound goes, I was REALLY surprised by its output. Given the speaker's size and price, I wasn't expecting much more than the max volume of my iPad, just water resistant, and, thus, closer to me in the shower. Nope, this thing has impressive volume. You're not gonna host a rave with it, but it's more than sufficiently loud while showering. I keep it about mid volume, in fact. I would venture a guess that you would even be able to hear it over a hair dryer when the speaker's turned up to its max. You're not gonna get studio/orchestral quality out of this, but the sound is clear and crisp, for both speaking audio (books, talk radio, podcasts) and musical audio. In short, I would absolutely purchase this again, and I love mine so much that I'm considering a couple as stocking stuffers or small Christmas gifts. Just buy it!

Works perfectly! Great buy! (This review is worth your read)
Before buying this shower speaker, I was a little hesitant because there were some negative comments about the volume and it's integrity againts water. But because there were many who were happy with it too, I decided to give it a try... and I am glad that I did. I am very pleased with this purchase for reasons more than one. Let me share some details. (1) It looks very good and it is as it shows in the picture. (2) It is water resistant.... meaning that it does withstand the little droplets here and there from splashing in the shower and it does withstand the moisture build up in the bathroom from the warm water. Nothing beats being careful too so just position it where it needs to be... far from direct water as it is not waterproof and near enough to reach it when you need to like when naswering a phonecall or adjusting the volume etcetrera. After showering, I do take a piece of paper towel and wipe it... just my way of TLC for it. (3) The volume is marvelous. TIP: make sure that your music source is at maximum and simple control the volume from the speaker itself. Otherwise, if the source is at a minimum you will not be able to make it any louder from the speaker volume adjustment. (4) The signal / reception is superb! I have uninterrupted music flowing out of this thing even when my phone is a good distance from it. The phone works well too. Clear conversations bothways. I have used a more expensive bluetooth speaker before wherein I had to take my iphone IN THE BATHROOM for it to have uninterrupted feed to the speaker! Frustrating! So I am sticking with this blue baby :)) (5) To turn it on was a little puzzle for me but I got it figured out... press the power button and you'll hear one beep / sound. Don't release... just keep pressing and you will hear a series of beeps / sounds... that is when the speaker is on. To turn it off is the same way. (6) Battery life is very good. I can only put it this way... I charged it 4 hours prior to initial use as the instructions said. I have been using this daily for 2 WEEKS now and have not charged it again yet. (5) The sound is superb! I am well pleased all in all. 1/9/15 Update: I have been using this daily for the past 2 1/2 months and have only needed to charge it twice so far. One charging a month is not bad at all! Still works great to this time!

Lasted a while
I’ve had this speaker for a while. I couldn’t remember where I bought it to write the review but alas here it is! It lasted about a year or so. It would keep falling off the time so I eventually just left it in the shower caddy. Eventually it just stopped working no matter how long I left it on the charge. I decided recently to try it again and it only makes whirring noises when plugged in and you can’t connect. It was great while it lasted!

Buy this right now!
This thing is amazing! If you listen to audio on your phone this is a must-have. I bought this item with very low expectations, hoping maybe it could be useful as a shower radio. Upon ordering I was concerned about the quality and about the battery life. The idea of having to charge this thing on a regular basis did not appeal to me and the price seemed like there was a catch. This speaker is very well built, with an easy interface, and water resistant design. The speaker was loud and clear enough to listen to podcasts in the shower. You can even accept incoming calls on this thing. Though the call quality and volume were less than impressive, this was a feature that wasn't necessary to me. Turning it on and off is as easy as holding the power button, so I turn it off when I am not using and have yet to recharge the battery once. The battery life has impressed me. My favorite feature is the giant suction cup on the back. The suction cup is great, it works on so many surfaces. I would stick it to my shower wall, then pop it off and set it on my desk to do work, then pop it on the fridge when cooking, and finally stick it to a window outside to listen to music. Make sure to dampen the suction cup before applying for the best hold, though its rarely needed. I have used this product in so many more ways than I initially intended. "Unbelievable" is a word that is thrown around frequently in regards to pricing, but the quality and versatility of this product has left me stunned at how cheap it is selling for. This is one of those items that you think you don't need until you have it and use it ALL THE TIME. If you are a hardcore audiophile looking for a great speaker, there are plenty of more premium options that deliver a better sound experience. This is not an elite sound quality speaker, and I wouldn't purchase it if your looking to use it mainly for phone answering. If you are however looking for something to amplify your music when cooking/cleaning, or a versatile shower radio, or a highly portable speaker for outdoor activities, or a the easiest gift idea for anyone with functioning ears, then look no further. This is one of the best values on Amazon.

It works, more or less
Used in shower for over a year, solely for audio playback (didn't use calls or phone functions), found some pros and cons. What's good: - It handled several drops that I was convinced had broken something. But it kept on trucking. (I dropped it out of clumsiness while mounting/dismounting it to recharge.) - The suction mount is robust on glass and with water around. Never once slipped by itself. It stays on even when bumped accidentally, as there is some flexibility at the joint. It's quite light overall, so doesn't stress the suction. - It can be rotated after mounting so you don't have to line things up perfectly while sticking it on the wall. - It's water-resistant (not waterproof) but in practice makes little difference. It's okay with constant splashing water from the shower. - It plays reasonable sound, reasonably consistently. Mostly used for voice/radio broadcasts and podcasts -- works just fine. - The buttons do the job most of the time. What's not so good: - Sound quality isn't exceptional. Probably best for voice/radio, but passable for music too (the speaker's noise tends to merge with the shower's noise anyway). - When the battery starts running low, the notification gets really annoying (it beeps and silences playback every few seconds). I'd prefer a continuous visual battery indicator instead of being surprised by an alert. - Battery life and recharge time are what you'd expect for a cheap gadget. It's not too cumbersome to recharge every week or so, but I often forget to charge it (despite the annoying beeps) and find myself wishing it could fast-charge for another 30 minutes or something just for one time... and so I miss out on running it about once every month. - Wired connectivity is average -- micro-USB and not type C. - Wireless connectivity very occasionally falters. Usually pairs fast and doesn't drop, but a few times it has required resetting power to get it to sync. Range is fine -- I use it across about 8m or 25 ft and through a bathroom door. - There is some lag in the audio, which isn't usually a concern (you probably won't be watching video). But I sometimes use it to split an audio stream that's also playing via other speakers in an adjacent room. That arrangement can create an echo effect when you're able to hear both. - Volume control and normalizing is annoying with a PC. Adjusting the volume with the speaker's buttons can tune the device's own level but doesn't change my PC's volume (so it can only go quieter and not louder relative to the upstream output). Sometimes the PC's output is too quiet and there's no way to raise it from the speaker itself. I often have to bounce between the shower and the PC before getting in to ensure it's all OK. - The buttons are mostly problem-free, but the signal to turn off the device is a long-press (~3 seconds) that can be fiddly. It's surprising how easy it is to start pressing it in such a way that it's hard to keep up the pressure (it needs to stay deep) for the whole long-press duration. That's because of the flexible mount which lets it move around a bit. Sometimes I hold it down for 5 seconds only to find silently gave up at 2 seconds, so I have to try again -- which can finally take about 10 seconds to turn off the thing. Wish there was a simpler on/off switch. - The buttons can be hard to read in bathroom light or with water interfering with sight. The gray interface has little contrast, doesn't illuminate clearly, and isn't clear to the touch. But once you get used to the layout it's easy enough -- there are only five buttons, arranged logically. The bottom line is that for a fairly low price I went from having no streaming audio to having some streaming audio in the shower, without too much hassle to operate and maintain. If you want that too, this product will work and last a while (probably like many of the other products at the same price point, to be fair). If you want a unique gadget with high quality sound or a fully polished user experience, look elsewhere.

Good sound, great price
Really good quality sound and build. Very impressed with it, especially for the price, it is definitely great value for money. It is really easy to connect to devices and the sound quality is much better than I expected. It's slightly bigger than I pictured it but it's worth the extra size for the better quality sound. I haven't tested it in the shower yet so cannot comment on its waterproofing but judging by the quality of the rest of the product I am quite confident it will be fine.
