Hi, would this be suitable for a box that is outside in the garden ?

The metal is certainly not rust proof neither is the internal mech. If your garden box has a good seal then it may possibly be okay but won’t last as long as an install indoors. Maybe a spray of WD40 to help stave off dampness.

Is there a max width of lid this can be used to closed. Mine will be around 700mm Is this enough or too small ?

I put two on an oak chest. The lid is 110 wide and 50cm deep. The lid is 18mm thick. These hinges work for a little while then the lid slams shut. In my experience they don’t take much weight. If your lid has any weight to it then I think you might struggle with these. They look good and are easy to fit and as they do provide a little support I’ve left mine on but it doesn’t soft close.

What screws do you need for this?

It’s basically limited by the thickness of the wood you are screwing into. It’s probably at least a number 6 screw with a length of 10 mm
