Emotions for the soul
Boo Hewerdine is one of those rare breed of singer/songwriters who has the ability to capture moments in life that live with you forever. First love/special love and moments that live hidden in the soul until songs like those in 'Harmongraph' rekindle the memories.I first heard Boo at 'The Tron' Theatre in Glasgow, and in the intimate surroundings of this venue, the words of his songs moved as though they were emanating from within me. The lyrics, captured and represented events in my life. Tantalising poetry of the heart, the soul and the body, entwined in captivating melodies. In his latest album, Harmongraph', Boo choose to record his own version of songs that were written for and often with other artistes. 'Harmonograph'produces a roller-coaster of memories consisting of twelve songs which capture the essence of how we all tend to be controlled by other people's emotions.I rated the album at 5 stars because every song meant something to me, but if I was forced to select my favourites they would be 'Sing to me', 'Slow Learner' and 'I felt her soul move through me', but that probably tells you a little to much about me!Boo Hewerdine could easily release 'Harmongraph Nos.2 to 10', and still attain the same high calibre of music. I've gifted this album to numerous friends, who had never previously heard of Boo. Each and every one of them now call themselves fans, and kick themselves for not having heard him sooner!

Excellent
I bought this album at the same time as "God Bless the Pretty Things" after seeing Boo on Songwriters Circle on BBC4. I loved it immediately and now play the two albums more than anything else. I was bowled over by the variety of styles and the quality of the lyrics. I just don't know why Boo hasn't had huge commercial success with songs this good.

a beautiful, gentle piece of work
Acoustic singer-songwriters seem to be occupying higher reaches of the album charts just at the moment, and Boo Hewerdine is one of the very best of them. An enormously prolific and gifted songwriter, he has produced one of the most tender and understated pieces of work you will ever hear. These are the kinds of songs that get under your skin - they slowly grow on you until you realise how much they have come to mean to you. Delicately sung, thoughtfully arranged, this is a beautiful record, capable of moving you tremendously - one of the best you will buy this year.

magic
if we lived in a just world, the talent of boo will be highly rewarded, the man always wrote amazing songs since the days with The Bible to this recent "Harmonograph", a soaring voice that floats over perfect melodies with a magnificent depth that is almost wrong to just call it "pop".Boo's songs are the kind that stay in your mind long after you play them, like beautiful memories of summer days faded, it's cold now but the heart is warm, still beating while listening to "The Patience Of Angels" or any of these songs, just close your eyes, hit the random on your remote and....

Amazing music - truly!!!!
An AMAZING LP. Probably the best thing Boo has released - and he has done many fine albums. This is BOO covering songs he wrote for other people ... and he brings them to life in a way noone else can. All the tracks are terrific. If you love great pop music - and that's what this is - buy it. Do it now!!! Ross Woodward, Australia
