Great quality and value for the price
Where to start with this laptop? Well I was looking for a laptop that would suit my school and gaming purposes without breaking my bank. After my desktop had broken down and I wanted something I could take with me to work with in class, my room, on the road, etc. with plenty of space and power in a $500-$700 price range. The whole machine looks good and build quality is great. Personally, I really like the texture that the exterior of the laptop is made of which give it a unique appearance and because it is black and somewhat textured material it is really hard to leave any scratches/blemishes on the laptop unlike many other ones. The size of the laptop is suitable, maybe even slightly too big as it kinds of a tight fit in my backpack and takes up a sizable amount of table space. It never gets hot and I can't even hear the fan (does it even have a fan?) and it start up and shutdowns pretty quickly. Not a big fan of the keyboard layout. Some of the top keys seem kind of squished to me and because this is a bigger laptop is has the number pad keys so that the keys that you use to type are off centered to the left a bit. This laptop is also my first time using Windows 10 and I really like the interface. To me its kind of like a cross between Windows Vista and Windows 7, as you have all the apps and what not but the windows button doesn't take up the whole screen. It also has a really sweet multitasking function called task view which lets you see all the open applications at once similarly to the task manager you might have on an iPhone or Galaxy, which can also be accessed by swiping up and down on the track pad with 3 fingers. Some of the pluses of this laptop is that is has an ethernet cable which is nice if you want to have a strong connection when you're gaming. The laptop's download speeds on ethernet and wifi were both fast, I was downloading at speeds of 500-600 kpbs which is just as fast as my old desktop if not faster. That laptop also has an HDMI input and built in function for split screens so if you want to get all fancy and add another monitor you can do that no problem (I had no previous knowledge of knowing how to do this and got it set it up in a minute). The laptop is quite a work horse, I can be listening to music and have multiple tabs open while playing TF2 or Dota 2 and I'll have around 80-100 fps on standard settings. I haven't experienced any lag with it or crashes, the processor and ram are more than capable for any type of gaming, and you can even install more ram if you'd want to but I don't see why you would need anymore. Some of the laptop's shortcoming are that it lacks a microphone input (although there is a built in mic which works fine) but if you're going to be using a gaming headset or recording audio its going to have to be through a USB. The battery life lasts maybe 4 hours on the lowest brightness doing some light surfing/listening to music/working, which is not as much as I'd like it to be but reasonable because this isn't supposed to be a mac or anything. The laptop also lacks a DVD drive which now a days is not that big of a deal but would have been nice for watching movies or exporting files. I haven't encountered many problems with the laptop, but at one point the sound wasn't working and I had to spend sometime fixing the drivers which could've been either a hardware or windows thing. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase, I'd definitely consider by more from Acer in the future and hopefully this laptop serves me for years to come.

Good Value for Moderate Video Editing and Overall Office Work
I purchased this laptop to replace a brand new ASUS TP500L touch 2 in 1. The ASUS is a wonderful system: solid, gave me options as a big tablet or laptop, but the keyboard sucked. I went through 3 of these with Amazon (they are very responsive to dealing with defective product and replacing it immediately), but they all had the same non-responsive keyboard issue. The last one I received seemed to work, but soon it missed key presses all over the board, as if the unit wasn't scanning the keyboard quickly enough. After the 30 day period ran out, I contacted ASUS, they wanted me to send it in. I'd need a hot spare for that. I've finally given up on the unit and purchased this Acer. For the price, it's quite a value to have an Nvidia CUDA GPU card and full HD. I run the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and edit video on it on the road. It works well enough to do video on the run. This unit, with Nvidia and Broadwell Core i5 (two-core) actually replaced my Toshiba Qosmio Sandy Bridge based i7 (four core) with Nvidia 460 GPU in it. (I used that (9 lb. monster) for video and had a 3 lb. Acer Pentium laptop that ran for 9 hours on battery for everything else.) Now I have one laptop to do what I previously had 2 to do. (The Qosmio did render faster than the ASUS and Acer, but not fast enough to continue doing 2 PCs on the road.)The keyboard is very responsive. (Yeah, it's not backlit, but that's clear in the description, so you know it going in.) The display resolution is fine for an inexpensive laptop and for doing full HD editing. The ASUS case was metal; this one is all plastic, but it's well built. Unlike the ASUS, it's easy to get into the unit to replace the HDD with an SSD, an essential swap: it took the boot to startup screen from 1-1/2 minutes to 18 seconds. Overall, it makes the unit scream. That should help with battery life, too, which isn't all that good, especially when the Nvidia card is turned on.The unit has both the builtin Intel graphics and Nvidia. It's nice to have the option to turn on the Nvidia card only for certain applications, which you can set up to switch automatically when you launch the app. That will help with battery life, since the Nvidia does take more power than the built in Intel graphics. For video output rendering, Adobe Premier CC runs a bit faster on Nvidia's CUDA cores than on the Intel graphics with OpenCL optimization.I've read complaints about the touchpad, and I was concerned. But, I've not found any of the issues written about. It's centered on the main section of the keyboard and is responsive. Sometimes it's too responsive to unintended touches, but it's a matter of working around it and typing with the palms off the plastic. One thing I don't like as much as the ASUS touchpad is that gestures on the ASUS are much more responsive and smooth. The Acer just doesn't respond as easily to multi finger swipes. Also, the power adapter with the Acer is a small brick and short power cord instead of a wall transformer, which is smaller. I would have liked the power unit to be more portable and a single piece instead of a power cord and brick.Overall, the keyboard is responsive, the build seems solid, it's easy to swap out parts, the display is bright and with good resolution (it's not a touchscreen, but you know that going in when you read the description); it has Nvidia CUDA cores, it runs Adobe CC well for portable work; all for under $600. Not a bad buy.It would get 5 stars if the touchpad responded more smoothly to gestures. I would buy it again.

Looks nice but would overheat.
The laptop looked nice and ran fast, however on day one it would get hot and just shut off on its own. I them tried it with a cooling pad and seemed okay when just browsing the Internet but when I tried playing Fallout 4 it would heat up really quickly then shut off in less than 10 mins even with the cooling pad. Unfortunately had to return. May have been a manufacturing error with mine.

Arrived as ordered and seemed like a great box
Arrived as ordered and seemed like a great box. Audio output jack is DOA. This may sound trivial, but i bought this for a specific purpose.and the only way I can get sound out of it is to use a USB based sound adapter, which comes with its own set of issues, most notably I have to consume a USB port I did not want to give up. Other than that it seems to be an OK box. Just do not appreciate getting defective gear at all.Notes:Yes I updated all the Realtech drivers to latest, no it had no impact on the problem.Yes I tried simple Headphones and they dont work at all ... Jack is DOA.Would I buy or recommend this to anyone else Nope.. not ever.
