Good choice with stencil tracing
I am using this to mark tress on red squares of my Christmas scrap quilt. I am quilting on my lap with no hoop. I do one tracing of my stencil at a time so the marks stay vivid and sharp. If my hand brushes the marks too much I have trouble seeing the design so I am careful not to rub too much powder off. The good thing is I know it will come off and I press pretty hard on the pencil and have only broken the lead a few times so it is nice and hard. I like how thin the mark it and the pencil is comfortable in my hands which is important after hand quilting for hours at a stretch. I have tried many marking pencils but this is now my favorite for its ease of use and the fact that I have a visible, thin, crisp mark for my pretty little Christmas trees. Some of the pencil leads from other pencils are too heavy to mark through the thin opening of the stencil..good tool

Great smooth, opaque, white, quilting mechanical pencil!
I have a Fons and Porter white mechanical pencil from a LONG time ago and needed refills but wasn't sure what size lead refills, if they had changed sizes. I couldn't find any under that brand name alone. But in my search, I found this new pencil by Dritz AND Fons & Porter, which I've not seen the two brands like this before. I decided if I just got a new one then I'd know what I need when it's time to refill. What I found is that they're interchangeable but I'm glad I got it any way. I was worried the lead would be crumbly but it isn't. It's smooth and the white shows up very clearly. It doesn't chip when I trace around a quilting template. The mechanics are nice and smooth. The lead is the perfect thickness. It isn't too bold or too fine. It's just right. It's a nice, sturdy pencil for quilting and I will buy the refills when needed and would also try the other colors of lead for different shades of fabric.

Great for sketching on dark paper!
Itβs the perfect white pencil and itβs great for sketching or drawing on dark paper!! Itβs got the convenience of a mechanical pencil and can easily be erased. It comes with extra lead. I just wish it also came with an extra eraser as well.

Great product!
Love this pencil! No more sharpening and wonky lead. I wish I would have found this sooner! Using this pencil is a bit more art than science. You have to hold the pencil straight up and down, especially when marking on the bias. Short strokes usually work best. Removes easily with water. So happy with this purchase! Should probably use yellow on this particular fabric, but it works well enough.

works great wish there was more colors of lead to choose from.
As far as I know there is only the white chalk lead, great for dark fabric. Wish there was more colors, needed for light fabric.

How did I go without before?
This is one of those items you canβt go without once you try it. I have been sewing for many, many years and honestly donβt remember how I got away marking on dark fabrics before. I think I just stuck it out with looking for very faint pencil lines, because I have never liked using those ubiquitous square chalk markers. I really like my markings to be precise, (for bag making in particular) and the thin pencil lead allows me to do just that. I really hope that I will be able to purchase the refills for this pencil once I run out, which from reading some reviews back when I purchased this, seem to not be that readily available. Keeping my fingers crossed, as the lead does wear rather quickly, especially when drawing long lines across fabric like I often do.

Best white fabric marking pencil!
This is the BEST white marking pencil on the market! Easy to use and advance a thin white line on any dark fabric and easy to remove with a damp paper towel π§». I had my original one for many years until it was dropped and never worked right again. Be sure to purchase extra refills!

Great until it breaks
I've used it frequently for 4 years and successfully refilled it once, but now the plastic part inside the pencil is stuck and I can't insert any more lead. I have a thick embroidery needle that I'm using to push it down, and there's no movement at all. So that's 9 wasted refill sticks and a broken pencil. It definitely worked great while it lasted.

I bought this to transfer patterns on the dark material that I hand embroider, and I have not been disappointed at all. I use a light table and the pencil goes on easily and makes fine lines which I need. Also seems to be holding up well and not disappearing before Iβm finished my work. ππΌππΌππΌ
