Mildly interesting, but not that good
Having lived in Japan and with a move to India in the works Love in Tokyo seemed a perfect fit for me.This 1966 hit has Ashok (Joy Mukherjee) head to Japan to find his nephew and bring him back to India. The process he falls in love with an Indian woman in Tokyo, there are chases, disguises, songs, and humor. It's a fairly typical Bollywood "Masala" musical with a bit of something for everyone from brutal murders to a long sequence stolen from Disney's Absent Minded Professor. How does it hold up?Not all that well, I mean it is a 50 year old film and tastes, styles and cultures have changed. It's an interesting looking into the past but not something I would recommend.

MY REVIEW ON LOVE IN TOKYO
JOY EMBARKED TO FAME WITH HIS FIRST APPEARENCE ON LOVE IN SIMLA WITH SADHNA THAT IS FULL OF HIT SONGS AND MUSIC AS ANOTHER VERSION OF A TRIANGLE MORE OR LESS. OUTDOOR SHOOTING IN THE TOKYO'S GARDENS ARE EYE SOOTHING WITH THE FAUNA AND JAPANESE FLORA..VETERAN PRAN ALSO MAKE IT DRAMATIC AS BEING THE STANDARD IN MOST OF HIS MOVIES.

LOVE IN TOKYO: 1966
One of the popular movies of the 1960's shot in tokyo, Japan. Ashok (Joy Mukherjee) is asked to go to Tokyo to bring his nephew back to India and falls in love with Asha(Asha Parekh), who is about to inherit her father's inheritance. Her Uncle Madan (Madan Mohan)in partnership with Pran (Pran) wants to share that 50/50.There is plenty of scenery around Tokyo with its beautiful small Parks and Temples. Probably too much of medium comedy by Mehmood and others. However, Asha Parekh shows her beauty and acting for 1966. Now recently seen on TV, she shows her age.Excellent music by Sankar Jai Krishan and good direction by Pramod Chakraborty. The movie is very watchable for mordern times.Watch and ENJOY.
