McAlpine STW4-65 Slim Shallow Shower Trap for Trays with 50mm Waste Hole

Needed to replace our Wirquin shower trap which was a bad design: kept blocking with no way of clearing the parts where the water flowed. This fit the bill to get into a shallow space, and easy to fit (its solvent weld btw... I hadnt realised so adjust some of the compression waste to attach it - you can get a compression version for a few £ more). The trap itself: lift the chrome grate out and there is a tube which forms the wall of the trap. This pulls out and you can clean the inside of any blockages... such a simple but awesome design. Only just fitted but so far it flows far far better than the old Wirquin trap ever did. Will have to see how it holds up to cleaning etc

After trying about 8 different traps - all sold as 'space-saving' and 'slimline' - yet none of them were - I came across this item. Did the job perfectly. Whoever installed our shower originally did a shoddy job, and used bricks instead of shower legs, and bodged all the plumbing, so the space we had to work in was extremely tight. This fitted perfectly, and with the trap being accessible from the top for easy cleaning, will make things so much easier. So far the flow rate is a vast improvement on the previous trap. Only thing to note - this needs an adapter if you are connecting to 40mm push-fit piping.

Super low profile trap that works well and drains the shower tray quickly. Feels very good quality.

This seems to be THE ONLY extra shallow shower trap for shower trays with a 50mm drain hole. This thing really saved my neck when fitting a shower tray with very limited clearance below it. Clear instructions. Good flow rate and seems easy enough to clean. Came next day when ordered via prime.

Unfortunately not available in push fit. The flow rate appears lower than the default standard size. My own shower tray access meant I couldn’t replace my existing trap easily with this and have kept this in case I need the additional drop in future (for me I will have to break the old trap to remove it and cut the existing waste pipe and weld it in limited space to fit this). If you need the space or additional about 3cm drop this is for you.
