Beautiful heavy metal hook set that is made in the USA, but unfortunately, I had to send back. I purchased for an INSIDE lock (ex. bathroom door when you don't want people to come in) that I made my purchase. I wouldn't have had problems if this was for an outside lock (ex. keeping animals in a barn that you don't want to come out).See pics, the loop that the hook goes through is an inch tall / deep. My space between the wall and the hanging barn door is only 3/4 of an inch, so thus the hardware cannot slide behind the door. In addition, the description states hook is 4.5 inches, but that is really not true. The hook and ONE screw plate together is 5.5 inches. Now, if you are using this as an inside lock, you will see the problem. A 2x4 construction wall is 3.5 inches thick on the lumber, plus 2 layers of sheet rock, approximately 1/2 inch each. So now I'm up to 4.5 inches. There is only 3/4 of an inch space before I reach the sliding barn door, and then you have to consider the second screw plate that goes on the door. That leaves me with 5 inches of space for a 5.5 inch hook. Even if I was able to install this at an angle to compensate, I would be installing the screw plate so close to the edge of the wall it would crumble my sheet rock on the inside of the doorway.

Love this is heavy duty, solid, secure and decorative / nicely rustic. Definitely recommend!

Functions well. Very heavy-duty. Most likely made for a strong outdoor gate.We put this across our french-doors to slow the toddlers down from escaping. The 4" length is great because it gets the mounts far enough away from the edge of the door as not to split the wood or cause other issues due to placement.Those squeezy door-knob covers can be dangerous in an emergency but this latch is so easy to operate. However, this latch can be flicked right off with ease, no unwanted resistance, just weight. It is heavy enough -- so its not going to vibrate out of its sleeve, at least not on earth with our current gravitational force.This latch secures the two doors together very well. Not only keeps toddlers in but ads a tiny layer of security (I say tiny because french doors, esp with a lot of glass, is not exactly great for security in the 1st place), looks decent and works well.

Awesome as a Rustic Barn Door Lock-Latch! We needed a creative solution to a bathroom barn door (replaced an annoying pocket door that constantly got stuck) This was perfect. Great quality for the price! The important issues were being able to break-in in the case of an emergency (which can be done by inserting a long skinny object between the crack in the door) and also the clearance of the hardware that mounted on the door when in the opened position. See pics- both were accomplished with this latch. The rustic look and thickness of this latch matched the barn door hardware nicely!

I made a doggy gate with a stained woodem frame and faux ironwork inserts made of wooden dowels and plastic pieces painted black. I just needed a latch, and this was the closest to what I was looking for. It's just a little bigger than I expected, but it's good.

I ordered this in hopes it would match the rest of my cast iron hardware on my barndoor. For the cost of it, I can't complain. It's a solid piece and it has a nice weathered iron look.
