Semenov Russian Nesting Doll 5pc./4"

My daughter fell in love with Russian nesting dolls after one of my co-workers let her play with some during Bring Your Kid To Work Day. This set is authentic looking but not as detailed as a Russian set. She loves it for what it is, nest-able dolls. Entertains her and is fairly durable - one fell off the table and chipped. Still, for the price, would buy again for a set that is essentially for play.

This was a gift for my 3 yr old grandson. He was fascinated by a similar set I have, so I wanted him to have his own. It is slightly larger and not as well made, but it serves the purpose. It's not as pretty, it's harder to open, & the baby lacks detail. I paid about the same amount for mine, but it was made by Russian artisans and not sold online. This set serves the purpose and hopefully over time it will become easier to open.

This doll was purchased online as a gift after a recent visit to Moscow. I was disappointed in the quality of the dolls; the 3rd doll developed a split in the back the second time it was opened. As I had already written the recipient's name on the bottom of the largest doll, it was not an option to return the set. The wood is thin and is not well sanded. Overall, I would not recommend this doll to anyone. A resale item with multiple photos is really the better way to go.

I thought was the big Russian DOLLS but they are miniature ones

We bought several Matryoskhas when we adopted our daughter abroad, but she was always very rough playing with them. Since these didn't have the sentimental value, she can play with them to her hearts content. We also bought her the littlest Matryoshka book to go along with them. The only bad part with the dolls was the packaging. It was loose in a box with inflated "pillow" bags instead of wrapped in bubble wrap or something of the like.

Well-made and beautifully painted. I was very pleased with this purchase.

I recently returned home from a trip to Russia, but needed one more nesting doll. I ordered one and it looked exactly like the ones purchased in Russia - handpainted and beautiful!

Recipient loved it!
