Good quality, good looking, suitable for gentlefolk.
So my housemate just opened this indoors and gave us a ton of bad luck. However, he was very impressed with the quality of the opening mechanism. Me too. The thing that strikes me about this umbrella is that it isn't too deep. this has a shallow profile while bring broad and as such is going to lead to fewer clashes with other people as you go about your day. I've had other umbrellas that were deep and inhibited my field of view, this one is superior in that respect. When opening it out, it feels strong, the extra spines (is that the word?) give it a sturdiness that inspires confidence. and the double skin is really nice, the interior layer is a nice strong red, a statement red if you will.I was worried that the handle seemed a little small going by the product pictures but it is actually a decent size and fits well in the hand, the plastic has a silky smoothness with the opening button given a chrome silver surround so you won't have trouble finding that in a hurry. Although I would have preferred a bent handle, I don't feel like this will be ripped from my hand in a strong gust of wind. there is a wrist loop attached and that should prevent umbrella loss in a gale.Closing the umbrella is straightforward though as others have mentioned it needs a strong shove to get the strut collapsed and clicked into the locked position. then it's simply a case of running your hand around the folds to flatten them down and snap the strap into place, as you would with most umbrellas. It comes with a bag for storage though once folded down, the umbrella is a little bulkier than when it first arrived. the bag is a little small to get the brolly into now. shame but not a deal breaker. The fabric is water repellent, it feels like a raincoat and has that synthetic swish you'd expect from such a fabric. I quite like the swish noise, but I thought I should mention it as I know some have problems with certain sounds. There is a weight to this one, about the same as a rigid non-folding umbrella. It will fit in a backpack quite easily but I wouldn't really say it's lightweight. I don't see how it could be when it opens up to about a metre in diameter. That's a lot of frame and cloth. closed up it's about a foot long or 30cm if you're fancy. So, all in all, a good umbrella for the money. big enough for a couple of people huddled together and small enough folded up that it isn't a major headache storing it.

Sturdy umbrella that should last
Good looking umbrella black with red lining. Good to open but hard work for this pensioner to close! I would still recommend it.
