We used them on a lead rope for our dog and it is kept inside. **Q: This will clamp a 3/4 thick rope to itself correct?** A: I used it as you described with 1/2 inch rope and it worked fine. There was room left for a larger rope but could not tell you exactly how much. **Q: what tools do you use to crimp these? will pliers work?** A: Yes I used large pliers **Q: Whick crimping tool is used for these double rope clamps?** A: Can't tell you what you should use as I used Channel Lock Pliers and a Ball Peen Hammer. You may want to find something more conventional depending on how you plan to use them. I am using them to attach my Pontoon Paddle boat to my dock. Nice quality at a fair price ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I got it to work for my purposes *by M***S on June 26, 2023* I'm making dog leashes from old climbing rope and using this to close the loops on each end of the leash. They work, but it does take some practice to make sure the rope clamp has purchase in the rope and that no slip occurs. One of my first efforts required two clamps to get the job done. But if you apply yourself, these will get the job done. I then applied heat shrink tubing over the clamps to add a nice finish to the job.
