Amazing book ... author (David Parmenter) is truly a king of KPI
I have read both the 3rd and the 4th editions of this book. Firstly, this book clearly defines what a KPI is and the myths around KPIs. Different types of measures and how to report them are clearly explained. Also, the author introduces to a concept called Critical Success Factor (CSF) - what it is and why is it so important to organizations and why all KPIs should be derived from CSFs. Comparing to 4th edition (I call the 4th edition as KPI yellow bible), exercises are there on wording measures, a new chapter is introduced on measures characteristics and I feel overall it is more organized. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in setting up KPIs in their organization.

Interesting but not revealing
A lot of introduction to the KPI world, but not so interesting for Operations Controlling. It takes more than half of the book to reach any practical point.Layout of accompanying material is very old fashioned and not presentable in a modern environment by any means.Interesting as a cross reference but no way as a main guide for KPI’s, particularly for production companies.

Dont buy!
Self promoting book. Lots of sentences starts with I.Has more information about myths rather than clear definition of KPIs.Most paragraphs do not have main idea. There is a page that explains why you need to buy this book forth edition!!!!! Please note this is 4th edition!!!!I want my money and time back!
