Secure and useful.
I got this for my new Wave and love it. I ordered it in black so when clipped over a pocket it will blend in a little more. As noted all over the intertubes, the black finish rubs off on everything for a while. The first thing I did was wash the clips with soap and water, then buff with a paper towel - no more blackened fingers or clothes. I can only imagine how long it would take to do a thorough job on an entire multitool. Also noted on the intertubes, the Wave has a "SECRET!" lanyard clip. I don't know if secret is the right word, it does take some looking to find it, and to get it out of its slot, you probably need some sort of tool. I didn't feel like this lanyard clip was particularly useful, given that once it slides in, I need to get out the screwdriver bit to get it back out.I am happy to report that with a few minutes of screwdrivering, you can remove this 'permanent' lanyard ring and use both the pocket clip and the lanyard ring. This allows you to put the clip on either side of the multitool, and use the removable lanyard ring in the other side, opening options for how you carry in different situations. I've now got the lanyard ring on my keyring, so I can clip my keys to my Wave. If I pop it off my keys and put it on a neck lanyard, I can hang my Wave right there in front, with easy access when working in a tight place, rather than putting it down where I might forget it, or being a good Tech and putting it back in the pouch or pocket. When I'm done with that job, the pocket clip is still attached and my Wave can slide back home.It took only a few seconds to unscrew the pivot point and pull out the old one. Getting the tension right on the pivot took a few minutes of fiddling, and everything is good to go.One word of WARNING: The Leatherman website states that:Our products are designed to be disassembled by factory-trained technicians only. Repaired tools are reassembled (and the pivot posts cemented) to ensure proper tension for optimum tool performance. Attempting to disassemble a Leatherman tool yourself may result in lost components and compromised tool functionality. It may also void your warranty protection.I can't imagine they would really void your warranty for doing this, but they have reserved the option to do so.See my pictures with both lanyard ring and pocket clip attached.

Nice Addition To My Surge - Should Have Come With The Tool
I haven't used the lanyard ring --- just bought this for the pocket clip (I think all the tools should come with a pocket clip). It fits my Surge very nicely, although it does wiggle from side to side a bit. No harm done, since it stays in place and does its job. The clip on my Charge was the same way, and it lasted a long time. This one seems equally durable so far, but time will tell. My tools see very hard use here on our little farmette, but I have confidence in the Leatherman name. My Leatherman Charge lasted 12 years, took unbelievable abuse, still looks almost new, and I passed it down to my son-in-law when I bought the Surge. I will have to say that I broke the pocket clip on the Charge once, but believe me when I say it's amazing something else didn't break. I can't fault the clip at all; in fact, maybe if it hadn't snapped, I might have gotten injured... As it was, the clip snapped off and the tool (and I) suffered no ill effects.

Sturdy but not invincible
This thing was great until it broke on me...It's a tight clip. So your multitool doesnt slide around on your pocket. Again, I loved it.Until i was at work the other day and it got snagged on (i dont know what). As i had a tool belt and harness on. I pulled the multitool and heard a dink noise. The clip broke. So again! The clip is great if you dont want the multitool on a belt. Just be careful. Its sturdy but not invincible

This is the Surge clip you want
I made a mistake and tried to get one of those Donk brand clips for my Surge. It was cut too thick and didn't fit at all. When I finally got it on, I couldn't move the bottle opener or screwdriver at all. Returned it, ordered this one instead. No such issues. Fits like a glove. Serves me right.

Works at it should
This clip was super easy to install. There was also an interchangeable carabiner clip in the box from Leatherman as well. Removing it is simple too. I wear this in my pocket everyday on my Surge. Time will tell how well it holds up.It seems to be the same steel and blackwash finish as my Surge but just in a thinner gauge. There is a bit of play, or wiggle, when attached to the mulittool as well but it's never come off.
