VMIAmerican Maid Housewares Tortilla and Pancake Warmer, Medium, Brown

I ordered this unit, and also one from another American company, except the one from the other company was made in China. I really wanted to like and keep this one from AmericanMaid, and I was already planning to return the Chinese-made unit, until I used this AmericanMaid unit twice.I had another one of these warmers, much more similar to the one made in China from the other manufacturer, but I liked my original one so much that I gave it away to my parents to use.I ordered 1 each of the two large plastic tortilla warmers I found available on Amazon, and my plan was to send one back after comparing both. It was interesting to note that the Chinese-made unit weighed slightly more than the American-made unit, however I think that's because the material was either thicker or more dense.This morning I used the AmericanMaid unit to heat up an extra large tortilla, the same as I used to do in my previous warmer, putting it in the microwave for 1 minute. While that was heating I could hear a popping sound coming from the microwave, which was unusual. After it finished, I removed the unit from the microwave and found the lid was stuck on pretty good, from apparent suction/vacuum created by the steam inside the warmer. I was able to remove the lid with my hands, with a bit of force. The second extra large tortilla I did, I cooked the same way, and I heard the same popping noise coming from the warmer inside the microwave. However, this time when I removed the unit from the microwave I found the lid had actually inverted (see photos), and I was unable to remove it, by hand or using plastic tools (so as to not gouge the unit).I am returning this unit for a refund, and the shipper will be receiving this unit complete with an extra large tortilla trapped inside.I think the problem is that the lid is a little too flexible, compared with the other unit I bought, and the previous unit I owned. I've never ever experienced this problem with my old unit, and so far the tortillas I've warmed with the other manufacturer's unit has not had this issue either.

This is such a great little warmer for torillas, pancakes, or rolls. Though sized for torillas and resembling those you find in restaurants, you'll find many other uses as well. I've used mine for rice, quinoa, beans and more. The cover is not tight and doesn't snap, but it fits perfectly and the unit holds heat much longer than expected.An interesting note about the unit and it's surprising they don't mention it, is that these are perfectly stackable. Pull the lid off and put it down as a base for the unit to get the lid out of the way, making it perfect to keep things warm at your dinner table or a potluck buffet, and then slip it under the unit to get it out of the way. Or if you have multiple units like this, they will all stack together very securely. The slightly rounded top and handle peg fit into the bottom of the bowl which is shaped to accommodate it.The warmer is dishwasher safe, though I'd recommend top shelf. It is also microwave safe, though definitely not oven safe. The material is plastic, but not the kind you'd see in Tupperware or other storage containers. It's more of a cross-linked polymer, designed for much greater strength and longevity.This warmer is highly recommended.

I was thinking about getting one of these for when I make Fajitas to keep the tortillas warm after I fry them, while I fry the rest. I have not used it for this purpose yet but I'm convinced it will do the job with no problem. We have used it several time for pancakes and it has kept them steaming warm from the time they were put in, until they were served. If you are looking for a good sized warmer to keep your food warm when other foods are taking a little longer to get done, this will work great for rolls, biscuits or anything else that will fit inside. This product shipped on time and in good condition.

This warmer is very sturdy and quite a bit larger than I was expecting (which isn't a bad thing). You could easily fit not only tortillas in here, but as the name indicates, you could fit several large pancakes, too. The thick plastic keeps heat in well, so the food stays nice and warm. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

Great product. We got this for our taco bar we had for a huge get together and it worked great keeping the tortillas warm. Very sturdy great quality. Highly recommend.

This item was a disappointment. I had party of 10 people and thought this was going to be a way to keep all my tortillas ready and warm to make tacos for my guest , but was not the case. I had to warm up each tortilla on the spot when it came to serve. again. disappointing item. oh well. too late to return it. on the bright side: its a good size and good material (sturdy) regarding the color: is not brown its more like a brick color (dark orange) pretty I guess.

This thing is AWESOME! It's super easy to use, and it really does keep our food warm. So far we've used it for both tortillas and pancakes with no complaints. Before we had this warmer, by the time I would make tacos for my two kids, my own tortillas would be cold. Now I get to eat hot food too!
