You do not need to refill them with water, just pop them back in the freezer once you get home. They hold my milk at a safe cold temperatures for 12 hours, even without refrigeration. And they fit well in most of the medium sized lunch bags.

I did not like the powder inside and the fill line. It overflowed easily which is probably my own fault for not reading the description better. I thought it was just water to fill inside, but the powder makes it that gel like ice substance.

We bring a cooler into our room with my baby’s milk (breast milk) in the bottles so that we get a little more sleep instead of having to always walk to the fridge for his milk and dying of exhaustion. We used ice before this and it was so ineffective and it would seep through the cooler. These are great! We put two in the cooler and it keeps the bottles cold all night.
