a great paranormal, YA, youthful angst tale
This is my first venture into paranormal romance, and it was a good start. The tale starts the last half of senior year in college for Sera, who in spite of her roommates attempts, has shunned all dating requests, and barely even partied her entire time there, focusing instead on studies and good grades. Kathleen, Sera’s roommate and friend, drags Sera to a fraternity party where she is mysteriously drawn towards Liam. Liam surrounded by a bevy of beautiful coeds seems to notice her and takes interest as well. The rest of the story evolves around these two, their closest friends, (some not so much) and how to keep desires, secrets, and ensuing troubles at bay. The author does a wonderful job of seducing the reader into the story with her in depth character development and descriptive storyline. The outstanding narration takes the tale to another level. While I am not sure if I will continue this saga the little teaser does show further tales have promise. The story = 4.5the narration a sold 5.

Can't run from your past
Great story. Sera is just looking to focus on school to escape her traumatic past and one day her roomate drags her to a party where Liam notices her and then cant stay away from her. Its an instant connection which ends up changing Sera's life forever. Later both liam and seras past come back to haunt them and it has deadly consequences. Curious as to what is next in the series considering Sera and Liam had the absolute best HEA.

I hate 3rd person books
I wanted to read this story, I did. It was interesting and I got a few chapters in but I absolutely hate 3rd person stories and couldn't make myself finish reading.

It was okay....there were more negatives than positives in this story.
I'm a fairly new reader of the paranormal romance genre, but I do read (and write) a lot of romance and erotica. With that said, I have to say that this book left a lot to be desired. TO THE AUTHOR: Please take what I'm about to write as *constructive* criticism. I mean no disrespect and only wish, as one author to another, to help you improve your craft.Technically, this book and this author is in desparate need of two things: (1) a thesaurus, and (2) a critique group. The same words were used over and over and over again--sometimes within the same sentence. It made it painful to read. Furthermore, loading it down with adverbs in between the repeated words doesn't help. It only made it worse, in my opinion. A good critique group or parnter would have been a tremendous help. Close family and friends don't count. They're only going to tell you how great it is and that they want more. Find a group of people you don't know and let them have a stab at it. You'd be surprised how helpful it is.The characters felt a bit one dimensional to me. I was quickly fed up with Sera's incessant crying. And Liam, altough better written than Sera, still lacked something. I don't know if it was because he was so possessive or what, but he just didn't strike me as the hero type. And as I write this review, I honestly can't say with any certainty that I care about either of them or what hapeens to them. The premise of the book was good, but the plot had a lot of holes in it. Everything that happened seemed to be a bit too convienent as well. (Spoilers ahead!) Jacob, who'd attacked Sera in high school, hadn't bothered to show his face to her in nearly three and a half years and suddenly he shows up. Why? Okay, I know Sera's jealous friend hunted him down in an attempt to ruin Sera's relationship with Liam, but come on! It read more like an easy way for Liam to race to Sera's rescue and save her. It was also an easy fix to how the truth about Liam's identity was going to be revealed. It lacked orginality. Then, later in the book, Beth, the woman who sired Liam, shows up intent on killing Sera. Believable? Sure. But again, it was a bit too convienent that Liam had yet another reason to resuce the poor, helpless Sera.I'm also wondering what was the author's purpose behind waiting until half way through the book to reveal that Liam was a vampire? If it was to elicit a gasp of shock from the reader she didn't get that from me. The little clues she left throughout pretty much gave it away before Liam ever spoke the words. But, knowing that I knew he was a vampire, the haunted house scene was fantastic! As they were leading the masses of people through the house I couldn't help but wonder if Liam and the others were stealing a meal or two along the way. I was also (one of the only times) worried that someone was going to snatch Sera and suck her dry.The sex scenes were probably the best part of this book. The author didn't use any purple prose or flowery language. There were no throbbing members or womanly caverns: for that I was grateful. However, because of the redundant descriptions and overuse of adverbs, after the first two sex scenes, I found myself skimming over them. They were believable and tender though. As some other reviews have said, there were some grammatical errors, but they didn't bother me as they were so minor they were easily overlooked. Overall it wasn't horrible and if you're looking for an entertaining read, then this will be a good book for you. I can tell that the author poured her heart into this novel. Of that I have no doubts. It's also very apparent that the author loves what she does (writing) and for that I can't find any fault. Kudos to her for seeing a novel through to publication. That's not an easy feat. Unfortuntely, this book isn't going to be for everyone and I'm torn on it. It had it's good parts, but for me there were just too many negatives. I will, however, give this author another chance in the future.

Really enjoyed this
What a pleasant surprise this was. I loved Sera and Liam. They were great together. This was a little slow for me for maybe the first chapter. But then I was quickly swept away with this story. I thought this was YA but I was seriously mistaken. Since it take place at collage I would say NA to Adult for sure. There was a lot of sex going on.Sera a great character. She was strong in what she believed in. Even when things were tough and it would have been easier to walk away and she had her moment where she almost would. But then it was like a switch was flipped and she thought it through before actually doing it. I think her only flaws were not being able to say no to her best friend Kathleen and she cried a lot. The crying for me wasn't annoying though. Sera has also been struggling for the past few years and struggles to get close to men because she was sexually assaulted when she was in high school. Liam is the first guy that she feels safe with. Of course there is an instant connection, which by the end of the book you learn more about.Liam oh baby! I love him.. and loved his 4 friends...Liam was a womanizer big time. But you learn later about all that as well. In fact in the beginning he decided that Sera will be his next conquest for the night. Ha! Was he ever surprised. This was one of those instant lust and then love within three weeks kinda thing. But I enjoyed this so much that I didn't care. Liam was protective to the extreme and even became possessive to becoming to most obsessive. Again there's a reason and if you hang in there you find out why. It was kind of funny because Liam is a vampire but for a while there I wasn't so sure, I kept wondering when he show what he was. I mean come on they drank a lot and they smoke. They can be in the sunlight and even eat food. This was filled with angst, partying, sex, action, drama, obsession, mystery and undying love. I was bummed when I read that the next book is in the future. I was really hoping that one of Liam's friends would have a book.

Thank goodness it was free!
I had high hopes for this book, considering there are quite a few in the series, but after struggling to get halfway through I just couldn't go any further. It starts off well but slowly sinks into cliche after cliche. The characters have no depth and are unlikeable, the plot is predictable, the sex scenes are repetitive....it's almost as if the author couldn't decide between writing a romance or an action novel so combined the two poorly. The heroine is irritating and weak, which I don't like and the main love interest is your typical angst ridden vampire. The dialogue reads like it's been written by a teenage girl and the points of view jump back and forward randomly. The only positive thing I can say is it was free so the only thing I've lost is my time. It's safe to say I won't be continuing the series. Save yourself some time and read the Mercy Thompson or Kate Daniels series if it's urban fantasy you're after. If it's paranormal romance then go for Jeaniene Frost, Kresley Cole or J.R. Ward. You won't be disappointed.

Okay
Sera has good reason to be hesitant around men, so her instantaneous attraction to Liam is a little unusual for her. Luckily for her, she isn’t the only one feeling the pull between them. Liam knows he should stay away from the human female he’s drawn too, but some impulses are difficult to overcome. Their relationship will not be easy, but will it be worth it?This is a nice read but I just wanted a little more from it. Authors walk a fine line between giving their reader too much detail or too little and this one fell a little flat for me. Things were talked about or brushed upon but then not fully explained. Some things can definitely be left to the reader’s imagination but things like the side effects of being a killer as a vampire, need to be a little more explicit. I found it muddled and confusing in places. As a mature reader I wouldn’t say it’s overly simplified, more like thoughts and ideas haven’t been fully realised. If you want to just switch off and read a sweet PNR then this book is fine. If you’re looking for a compelling read with an exciting story line, you’d best look elsewhere.Trigger Warning: Attempted sexual assaults.

great starter
This is the first book of two (which are currently available). The author has plenty of potential and characters to extend the series if wanted - and I sincerely hope she does.A shy young lady Sera, meets a friendly guy at a party. The guy, Liam is instantly attracted to her despite his friends telling him to stay clear.Sera finds herself in a dangerous situation, and needless to say, Liam comes to her assistance. He has strength, speed and exceptional senses - he is of course a vampire, but how is he going to explain himself to Sera and can they really be together?Overall enjoyable romance, with a little drama. I could nit pick over few errors and other minor quibbles, but the fact is . . . I could not put the book down and had to read the second book as soon as I finished.Brenda - I hope you have plans to release another !

All I wanted was you!!
O! M! G! A fantastic vampire story set in a very human world!! It's got it all and more!! College, Frat parties, sexual assault, losing virginity, perfect true love, blood and sex!! All this told in a tone of writing that touched my soul with love!!The leading lady takes us on an emotional roller coaster!! And there are five hot tasty male vamps, the leading man having the usual control problems!! The erotic connection between blood and sex in a vampire world is described in such a way that it is beautiful, not dirty or trashy!!The way that the plot develops had me unable to put this book down!! Of course I've bought the next instalment!! Let's just hope that there is more evidence of editing and proof reading than there is in this first book!!

Great new look at vampires
I really enjoyed this book. There are alot of vampire books out there and yet this book still managed to give a unique view of the bloodsuckers. Set in a college campus with frat parties, dorms and the usual bitchy girls we go on a journey of discovery. If your a fan and f the twilight books I think you'll enjoy this series although it's alot hotter and steamier than Edward and Bella.
