Fine yes, very fine, NO
Would have given five stars except that this stone is no where near 20,000 grit. Not even close. Maybe half that I’d say 6,000-8,000. I have several stone and even though it is fine it’s not a 20,000 grit! Other than the grit being a deception I have no other negatives about this product. Unfortunately because of the grit I wood not recommend this product for anyone looking for a very fine whetstone. Fine yes, very fine no

Great tool.
Let me start by saying, there's nothing that I dont like about this tool. Once you have properly prepared this planer to do the work you're cooking with gas.

Not a 20k finishing stone
Seems more like a 1000 (maybe 2000) grit stone with a very poor binder that they glazed. As soon as the stone got a little wet, I was able to use my fingers to start pulling material off the stone. a few light passes with a blade took way too much material off and created a ton of slurry. Not worth the money or time.

Seems more like a 5000 grit stone to me
Looking under a microscope at my results, this stone seems to perform more like a 5000 grit stone than a 20,000 grit stone.

Excellent!
Compared to sandpaper, this stone is very aggressive. But do not confuse aggressive with hard, with coarse or fine. This stone is very, very fine. It will make the edge of your knife mirror shiny, and it will do it quickly. However, you must remember that this stone will not remove any appreciable amount of metal off the edge of your blade. This means the blade has to actually be very finely shaped and very sharp when you put it on this stone. This stone will give you the very fine, very smooth edge. This mirror shiny edge will cut your object leaving a very smooth, polished surface.Further, this is a synthetic stone. It is made by taking the finest dust ground from aluminum oxide, combining it with molten glass and casting a block. This block is diamond cut into slabs, and the slabs ground flat. The subject of creating a synthetic stone is very complex, but the result is that the manufacturer can control how strong the stone is, how hard it is, etc. The result is a stone that can be easily shaped (or misshapen!) or very stable. Then the stone can cut slowly or quickly. I find this stone here to be rather soft - it is very easy to gauge a deep groove in it or destroy its flatness. At the same time, the stone can achieve its sharpening/honing goal very rapidly. I think it will be a bad idea to drag the tip of a blade through this stone; you will quickly create a deep groove in the stone and at the same time damage the tip of the blade you are so lovingly trying to hone to a razor+ sharpness. OTOH, if you want to hone to almost perfection a straight portion of a blade, this stone is very good at it.To summarize it all; this is a specialty stone. If you are new or just a stranger to ultra sharp blades, do not waste your time and money on a 20,000 grit stone. a 1000 stone will be a good start and a 5000 stone will be as far as you need to go. Once you will become very comfortable with this level of sharpness, climb to a 10000 stone and then a 20000 stone. At that point, this stone will be an excellent bargain.

False information
It advertised as 20000 grit but it’s more like 10000 grit, other than that i nothing to complain about,it didn’t give you the mirror finishing result like it advertised...
