These are SO beautiful! Received well-packaged and undamaged. Ordered two. One was substantially smaller but that was okay, as I placed them right next to each other on our bedroom nightstand and looked better being different sizes.As others have commented, the oil reservoir precludes the starfish from sitting flat on whatever surface you place them on. I am looking for a sea-themed tray or maybe a large clam she'll to put a bed of sand in and then lay the starfish on that, so that is not an issue.Also, I have detected no odor coming from these starfish.Overall, I am extremely happy with these!

It would probably sell better if it came with a small amount of the oil! Getting this candle is nice, however it makes no sense to receive an item like this with no way to light it! Very bad selling decision!!! Charge a $ more if you must, to include a sample of oil. Just plain stupid!!!!

Love the concept, but the oil tin makes the starfish stand to far off the table. Looks kind of silly. So I placed it in our tropical fern planter and it looks ok there.

Thought the starfish was a little too large.

It looks nothing like the picture this one is flat and odd looking very disappointing!!!!! would send it bck but I need it for my party this friday

I have a bit of a back story that goes with my absolute adoration for this product. When I was a child I lost my grandfather to cancer. My grandfather was an amazing person, and a superb salesman. He made his life selling vitamins and herbs from a prestigious company. What made him so successful was that he really used the products and could speak to them, and he had a way with people. He always tried to help when he could, and genuinely cared for others and their well-being. At his funeral, one of the stories that was shared was the one about the man who came across the beach full of starfish that had been "beached" essentially. He was throwing one after one back into the water, as they would die if they were to stay on the sand. Another man came up and asked him why he was doing that, considering there was no way he would ever be able to save each and everyone of starfish. The man responded "It made a difference to that one". That was very much the gist of my grandfather's life. To this day, starfish symbolize this concept to me. That it is important to take life one day at a time and one situation at a time. If you spend too much time looking at the overall situation, you miss all of the important details. This lamp holds so much meaning to me, aside from being absolutely stunning. It is very simple to use. The bottom portion detaches to hold lamp oil which can be purchased at most hardware stores. The best kind to get is a paraffin oil as it does not smell and does not smoke. If you are using this outdoors and you get pesky mosquitoes, you can also use citronella in it to keep the bugs away. What I love about this lamp is how intensely you can see the intricate design of the starfish. It's astonishing to see how complex and truly beautiful they are. This piece is definitely delicate, and I am always very careful when handling it as I do not want it to break. Overall, I have zero complaints and am excited to have company so I can show this lamp off, especially to my family that knows the starfish story too. I am extremely impressed with my Starfish Oil Lamp from SeaThingz. It is a beautifully made one of kind piece that is both mesmerizing and intriguing quarenteed to be a great conversation starter. It is made of a real starfish which makes each one unique in its own way as well as delicate. I love the fact that the starfish is able to continue to display its beauty for us to admire through this oil based candle. It comes with a tin reservoir base attached underneath the starfish that easily detaches from a lid making it easy to fill. The wick is held into place with a beautifully designed metal neck complete with glass cover to protect the starfish from the flame. The reservoir seems to hold a decent amount of oil without being oversized taking away the natural beauty from the starfish. My mother in law just purchased a beach house this past May and this would make a perfect addition to her beach themed decor. I am in love with this piece and many others I have seen sold by SeaThingz, I really enjoy seeing the natural beauty of sea creatures live on through your designs. This can be filled with paraffin oil or citronella oil for outside use and keeping the bugs away however it's not recommended to get it wet so be sure to store it inside after use. I will be updating this with even more pictures when I head to our families beach house in the coming weeks, I am loving the idea of adding this in a large bowl with a mixture of sand and other sea shells for a one of a kind tabletop centerpiece. Lastly I must praise the seller on the beautiful package presentation! If you are purchasing this as a gift you will be very pleased, it comes beautifully packaged with Ocean colored paper "grass" and presents itself as a high quality product which it definitely is!
