Fun for HOURS!!!
I bought this for my son. This is perfect. He plays with the triangles to make different puzzles. We bought the one with more pieces so we can have some in the car and some at home. He no longer asks for the tablet or phone in the car. We take this toy into restaurants, it is perfect and provides him hours of fun. He had this in his afterschool care and knowing summer was approaching, I bought it and we are so happy with it!

Awesome for Graphics Programmers & Mathematicians
I'm a UI, UX, and 3D Graphics expert and was looking for a way to visualize rendering of "Marching Tetrahedrons" and "Simplex" geometry. Searching on Amazon for "tetrahedron" or "simplex" was a complete and utter failure as manufacturers and 3rd party sellers don't know how to properly tag toys so us professionals can find them. I saw a post on "Procworld" entitled "Simplex toys are the best" but couldn't find the Brand/Model of the toys until a colleague saw the picture and recommend that I give these a go. These toys are the perfect physical model to help with visualization! The box has 48 pieces which comes in the shape of 2 cubes that consists of 24 pyramidal pieces per cube; each pyramidal piece has the pyramid base dimensions being 2"x2"x2.82" and a 1.5" height. Each piece is also magnetic. The magnets are not particularly strong but they (barely) do the job. For a more rigid structure you'll definitely want to use double-sided tape. The 1/8" magnets are long the edges so I don't know how easy it is to find stronger replacements. The pieces are nicely color-coded to help distinguish them from one another and come in the following 6 colors: * Red * Yellow * Green * Blue * Cyan * Magenta Sadly from a distance the dull cherry red and magenta (purple) blend in. I wish the red was much brighter. Having "only" 6 colors isn't a deal breaker for visualization but I also wish there 2 extra colors (for a total of 8) such as Orange or White. The ultimate would be to include 8 Transparent blocks so one could see the middle. If future editions don't include transparent blocks there is always the option of looking into 3D printing for the more serious modeler. The pieces aren't lightweight so they don't give that feel of "cheap plastic toy Made in _X_". Now I could see durability being an issue for children that play rough but as a professional I'll be careful making the different geometrical shapes. Pros + Big pieces + Magnetic + 6 Color Choices + Good bang/buck Neutral = Decent price Cons - No transparent colors - Limited colors; dull red instead of bright fire engine red - Durability might be an issue for children Still a great product!

Fun toy for a 3 year old, even 6 year old sibling liked it too
Got this for my grandson turning 3 who already has everything, and turned out he LOVED these magnet blocks and even six year old sister couldn't resist them. I had some trepidation on ordering, since the reviews were mixed and the pricing was less than some similar magnet toys here, but this toy was a hit. its fun and absorbing and helps with the child's spatial reasoning!

All the kids love playing with them
I bought these as a gift for my neighbor's 2 year old grandson several years ago. He just turned 5. She also babysits my granddaughter and a few kids after school. All the kids love playing with them. The age range is 2 years old to 11 years old. I would recommend getting 2 sets. Forty-eight pieces sounds like a lot, but it takes anywhere from 4-6 to build a simple shape. They are durable, none have cracked or broken. The colors are still as vibrant as they were 3 years ago. They are still a favorite of all the kids. I would buy them again, and would certainly give as a gift again.

Pretty Neat
This toy is pretty neat and for the price it is worth it. But make sure you pay attention to the age, it is for 8 and up. It is a good toy but not great. Some of the designs are hard to figure out. This would be something I would take if you are taking your child to a boring place where he or she is going to have to wait. Or if you have an autistic child this would be something that they would like.

Ehh
I knew these would be a little old for my 4 year old, but the magnets are so oddly placed that it's hard to make even the suggested shapes with them. Overall I'm disappointed.

This will get played with.
One of our kids repeatedly checked out a 24pc set of mag blocks from the math resource room at school, any chance the set was available. They where usually checked out by other boys. He sadly stopped when he told me that the school resource room no longer had them. After purchasing these and wrapping them up, I received a text from our schools Gifted Teacher just yesterday, who sent me the amazon link to this set and let me know how much our child would like to have a set of these. That he really enjoys them. I was happy to tell her he's getting them for Christmas! This is a "keeper toy". When I purge the toy room there are toys that stay & consistenly get played with. This is one of them. Most toys get rotated around to other Mom-friends or go to Goodwill. I would NOT let a baby or toddler play with these! The pieces are small enough to fit in childrens mouth and throat, but the shape would probably not entirely block the windpipe. I believe these common sense precautions are listed on the box. Also, I purchased a big set of VERY expensive Magna Tiles a year earlier that the kids enjoy as well. Mag-Blocks are NOT compatible with the Magna-Tiles set. The magnets placements do not match up well to build with each other.
