Highly underrated in 2026 for esp-now us with other boards like pi picos or yd-rp2040's. Great value for money. Fast connection and speed. They are tiny and weigh almost nothing. Their functionality is where I think they are underacted as using them as a module vs a mcu. Great quality. Just put in an order for more and and order for the S variants.

I love ESP8266 devices. I have about a dozen in my house serving different purposes. These are so small they can fit anywhere, and use very little power. I load ESP Easy on the IoT device, and use them for thermometers, motion sensors, door (reed) switches, and relays to turn on/off lights. The possibilities are endless!

I happened to pick the bad one to start my project. Just my luck!. After spending hours troubleshooting my setup, I found out that it was bad. I was not getting an AT OK back. After swapping it out, the other 2 worked fine. They are also doing their jobs quite well. They are very small units so working with them is tricky.

Worked great out of the box and using ChatGPT, it was really easy to get the device doing things. Recommend and will buy more.

Instead of buying this, everyone should think about ESP32. This board did not like jumper wires - it always failed to upload the program just because the jumper wires were not placed at the right angle. Second, it was so old that I couldn't even find the hardware to update. After 10 hours of playing with this piece, I brought ESP32, and it immediately worked for ALL MY CURRENT SETUP!

Bought this for upgrading our prusa mini 3d printer. It’s was so easy just plug and play and download update for prusa also, a few other steps and bam, no more unplugging and plugging the usb stick. Perfect purchase and fast shipping.

Quickstart: download ESP8266 library for the Arduino IDE. In Tools, select Board: "Generic ESP8266 Module". Change Builtin LED "1". Plug into an auto-download programmer/adapter and hit upload. You can upload a blank sketch, Blink example sketch or whatever. The blue LED should light up. One of my three did not light up or program. It seems like at least one customer had a bad batch for all three.
