Inizialmente (e ingenuamente) pensavo che un semplice cavo adattatore USB-C to SATA avrebbe fatto al caso mio, salvo poi scoprire che per gli HDD SATA da 3.5'' il solo cavo non fornisce alimentazione sufficiente per avviare il disco. Ho quindi optato per questa soluzione di Sabrent per il costo contenuto e per il fatto che già conoscevo il brand per altri acquisti fatti in precedenza (un SSD NVME installato su un MacBookPro e un cavo USB-C to SATA). Nella confezione, oltre all'unità principale sono presenti l'alimentatore, il cavo USB 3 Type-A to Type-B per il trasferimento dati e la manualistica a supporto. Il case si presenta compatto, abbastanza solido ma dalla consistenza un po' plasticosa, che solleva qualche dubbio sulle capacità di dissipazione del calore nel caso di utilizzo prolungato dell'unità esterna. In compenso, l'utilizzo è semplice e immediato: una volta sollevato il coperchio trasparente, si appoggia l'HD e lo si spinge in fondo fino a che il connettore SATA non è entrato correttamente in posizione. Dopo aver attaccato l'alimentatore alla presa di rete, è poi sufficiente premere il pulsante sulla parte superiore del case e il gioco è fatto: nel mio caso, l'HD è stato riconosciuto immediatamente al primo colpo. Lo scollegamento dell'unità HD dal case è leggermente più laboriosa: non basta tirare l'HD verso l'esterno, ma è necessario sollevare leggermente l'estremità più lontana dal connettore SATA e poi fare il consueto movimento alternato destra-sinistra per favorire lo sgancio dal connettore. E' possibile che, col passare del tempo, parte della resistenza esercitata dal connettore venga meno. Ad ogni modo, considerando il prezzo estremamente contenuto del case, consiglio decisamente l'acquisto. Yes, this will work fine for backing up your drives. The drive type for your internal drive doesn't matter unless you were planning to remove it and plug it into the external bay (you don't need to do that). As long as your internal drive is readable by your system, that's all you need for this to work. Buy a NEW drive for your backup that will fit into the external bay (SATA, or M.2 if you purchased that version), then copy the data from your internal disk to the external disk. You will then have your backup. Note that while the details specifies that it can support up to 20tb drives, it really only appears to be able to support up to 16tb drives (at least the original one without the M.2 slot). If you are stuck with your system only reading up to 2TB's of disk space, but you have a larger drive, that means you used the wrong partition style (MBR), for larger than 2TB capacity drives you need to use the (GPT) partition style. **Q: Is the power supply universal (110-240V) ?** A: 12v ps. Provided...do not use 12v supply with 5v drives. Some drives are ranged 5v to 12v . Some just say 5v. **Q: Will this product support a 6TB?** A: You will probably have to jump through hoops to do so. I tried to run in the firmware and kept getting an error. Contacted support and they wanted me to go through some 20 step process to do so and use a file not from their website. Nobody could explain to me why it wouldn't update with the firmware file on their website that had my product specifically listed. In the end I opted not to do it and went with a different product that natively / out of box supported 6TB and larger **Q: Is it safe to use this for media files and run 24/7?** A: Absolutely. I have had mine connected to my PC for 2 months 24/7, and it runs just like an internal Sata HDD.
