Exactly what I was looking for
I was looking for a change as my Porter Cable tool was showing its age as well as it was not lasting long enough (old technology). Having used SKIL power tools for a while now (both corded and cordless) and having invested in their batteries, I got this SKIL 20V Compact Reciprocating Saw. Upon arrival and unpacking it, I took it right a way for a spin. Oh boy, was I pleased with it. Now I have my SKIL batteries showing how much charge I have left the tool. Also, it last much longer than my older Porter Cable. In short, I am very happy with it and I see many good days ahead with it.

As Powerful as a Corded Reciprocating Saw
I have several 20V Skil products that have all impressed me (hence the purchase of the Bare Tool version) and this Skil Reciprocating saw is no exception. I tested the saw while cutting through a piece of hard maple with the provided blade. The saw effortlessly cut through the hard maple. I have attached a video of this test. The 20V motor is powerful. I felt it was as powerful as the corded 115vac saw I have. It will be rare when I have to use the corded reciprocal saw vs the Skil. The blade is easy to install and remove without the need for any tools. Just a twist of the locking mechanism to open or lock the blade in. The blade is held very securely. I love it when required tools are integrated into a hand tool and in this case there is a Allen wrench mechanically attached that is used to adjust the throat length.

powerfull
Have all of the Skil 20 volt tools including the reciprocating saw. I have an old Milwaukee corded (1976) that still works but this saw (Skil) really is strong. Have alot of 2 ah batteries but a 4 or 6 ah battery would work better,no need to change as often, but great tools!

Skil is really stepping up
This thing is perfect, I mainly use it to prune and cut up branches. I've cut probably a 4 inch branch clean through with this thing. I've also cut alot of wood and other things. Let me tell you this thing cuts pretty much everything. It is pretty light and the battery lasts quite awhile. You will definitely need more than one battery, if you plan on using it for long periods. Anyway, this thing is just as good as some pro models. The big difference is the price this thing is way cheaper. My advice would be to wait for it to be on sale. They go on sale alot and you can usually get it cheaper in a combo kit. Overall I love the new Skil line and this saw. Definitely give Skil a hard look at a tool brand to invest into.

Don't order this tool package
The two batteries that came with the tools can not be charged. Consequently the tools don't work. I have requested a return over a week ago from Amazon and have not received authorization to return the set nor have I received any communication from Amazon. This is a gross lack of customer service and a major disappointment.

Both batteries dangerously leaking electrolyte
Both brand new lithium batteries came completely covered in electrolyte that had leaked out. A hassle to process the return since Amazon does not allow returns of lithium batteries. Had to go through a long process to get a refund via customer service but Amazon does not make that easy at all. This makes a customer think that the tool combo kit is of poor quality even though it is only the cheap batteries that are bad.

Small enough for convenience and powerful enough for most things
I have used this saw to trim small tree limbs and used it to cut 3 inch diameter 1/8 inch thick metal pipe for automobile exhaust. The battery lasts as long as I have wanted to use it at one time. It's easy to use and very handy.
