I knew in under a minute that I would NOT be returning this item...
For realz, I ran this thing for less than a minute in my hot tub- getting into the main spot where all the buildup was and it worked way better than expected. I took apart the filter head and all the sediment that had built up and I have worried about for 2+ years was there. The filter bag's material seemed to make it even easier to clean it out. Just by emptying it and giving it a few taps to bang out the excess, the sediment came out. Just had to hit it quickly with the hose and it was good. A little later (once I actually opened and looked at the instructions), I got a BONUS that I did not count on. It comes with 2 microfiber bags that fit inside the original bag. I decided to see what IT could do. I had a buildup of shock powder in my hot tub and after thorough cleaning of the floor and steps, the bags picked huge amounts of the powder. I was amazed at how much it got. I will say that this is one of the best purchases of a tool I have ever made!!! I judge that on the product getting the job done with efficiency. If you have a hot tub, you know that the regular pool cleaner will not fit and be effective unless the tub is extremely large. This tool will be your friend. It is a very simple tool and the instructions are just really three pages, mostly with images and short descriptions of them. The unit consists of three pieces and a simple twist-on-for-power design. Like I said, I knew immediately that I would be keeping this item. I usually keep boxes and packaging when I buy something this size, but there was absolutely no reason to keep this box. A MUST HAVE FOR HOT TUB OWNERS. I would think it would work in the pool especially on my steps. I will try that next and that would be a big plus if it did. I am already sold on how it works. I was skeptical because when I first turned it on, I could not feel much suction. I guess it needs to be fully immersed to work properly. Very satisfied customer and if the company reads comments... good job guys!!! I will by more products when the need arrives. Thank you.

It Sucks! That’s Well Worth 5 Stars.
This little vacuum is perfect for small pools or hot tubs. And let me tell you, vacuums are the only product where “It sucks” is the highest possible compliment. Five stars for its life choices. The suction is so powerful it could probably pull lost socks out of another dimension. It eats algae, sand, and anything else small enough to annoy you. The tiny fabric filter is surprisingly mighty—think of it as the little black dress of pool maintenance: simple, classy, and catches everything. But here’s the twist. The water it slurps up has to go somewhere, and apparently, it decided to blast it back out of exhaust ports like it’s auditioning for *Old Faithful: The Pool Edition.* The result? Some debris isn’t captured; it just takes a scenic spin around the pool like it’s on vacation. Luckily, that makes it super easy to skim up with your net—so really, it’s less a flaw and more a “feature.” If it lasts two years, it’s worth every penny. And if it lasts longer, I’m naming it and inviting it to family gatherings.

NEEDS 5 D BATTERIES
Deceptive description. They fail to tell you that you need 5D batteries until you open the instructions. Next, the extension pole shown is not included. Very hard to turn on and off. So so suction.

Great idea, very poor implementation
I have a gunite pool with a small "spa" section that is always hard to clean because it doesn't have it's own skimmer and it is too small for my automatic pool cleaner. So I would typically manually vacuum it once in a while to pick up small debris from the bottom which works very well of course, but takes some time and requires vacuum hook-up and big vacuum head is hard to maneuver in a small spa area. I loved the idea of having this broom tool to easily and quickly pick up the sand and small debris without hooking up my hose so I read the reviews and decided to give it a chance. Once thing I have to say - I had no issues with turning it on or off as other mentioned in the reviews, it was easy and worked just fine. But I was so disappointed in the performance of this tool that it had to go back (thank you Amazon for your customer service and return policy). I read the instructions, loaded the broom with fresh batteries, and ventured outside to start my new life with easy spa maintenance. Well, my dreams were quickly shuttered. The tool's sucking power is very small. Granted, I did not expect Dyson performance for 40 dollars and from a few batteries; but I was expecting it to be able to pick small debris, sand, and silt. Instead, it did not have enough power to suck in small debris (small leaves, tiny sticks, etc.) and the supplied bag's mesh was not fine enough to collect sand and silt and I could clearly see the cloud coming from the "gills" right back into the water. I stopped it and made sure that it is assembled correctly and the net is snapped in its place properly (trust me, it is no rocket science) and tried again with the same result. I used the tool for about an hour which basically just gave me cloudy water and after the dust settled back on the bottom I switched right back to my old plan "B" which is vacuuming it with a hose. I took the broom apart and cleaned it per instructions, dried it, and put it back together disappointed. Couple of days later I decided to give it a second chance. Same result but now on top of the broom just scattering the dust around my pool I could also hear some weird noise coming from the motor which leads me to believe that the unit would not last more then a few months. I know that there are more powerful models of this broom made by the same company but after this experience I am afraid to try. Will look for other alternatives.

Amazing value for the price!
Amazing value for the price. I have to be honest, I didn’t expect much. I thought the price was too low on this little guy, but I just didn’t have much money to spend and the grit in the bottom of my hot tub was taking over. I’m a pool and hot tub gal, not a beach gal, so the sand (dirt) in the bottom of the tub was not bringing up any good vibes for me. I am totally impressed. The vacuum is super easy to use and has great suction power. I have been using it at least twice a week for over a month and the batteries (not included - needs D’s) have lasted. It will pick up anything from find sand and dirt to small leaves. Note: it’s for debris on the bottom, you will still need to use a skimmer to get debris floating on the top or floating around the middle. Also, the handle is o my about 2 feet, so I use it while I sitting in the hot tub, rather than trying to use it from the edge.

Updated review: Not great/ not awful
Update: After buying 2 of these I am changing my review from 5 stars to 3 stars. The first one I bought lasted almost exactly one year year. I really liked how well it cleaned so I bought another one. This time I was even more careful about rinsing it after use and where I was storing it. It didn’t even last a year. 3 stars for the performance while it worked because it did a really good job with quick in-between cleans. I Knocked 2 stars off because I didn’t realize they would require replacing so frequently. I also didn’t like how many batteries it goes through- but I was aware that it was operated by D cell batteries prior to purchase so that’s on me. This time I replaced my aqua broom with a rechargeable hand held vacuum. Hopefully I get just as of good results with cleaning as I did with the aqua broom- AND at least few years out of it. Original review below I love this little gadget and call it my pool dust buster! It’s a great addition for in between maintenance but definitely not your main vacuum. As long you realize that, you will love it too. First of all my pool is always a mess. The original owners of my house planted crepe myrtles around the pool. They are beautiful trees that shed tiny, paper thin, flower petals as well as little seeds the size of airsoft pellets All day, every day the entire summer; making pool maintenance a challenge. The skimmer basket actually breaks once a month due to the shear volume of stuff it catches. The main pool vacuum runs every night and fills up as well. We keep two hand held skimmers to use every day when we swim as well. It’s ridiculous! So when this little gadget popped up for $50 , I was eager to give it a shot. I honestly didn’t expect it to work as well as it does. The pros It gets up all the tiny debris really well. To get any silt, you have to be at just the right angle and move like a snail or you just stir it up. It won’t pick up anything big like an oak leaf either but those are easy enough to grab. I’m also surprised I haven’t had to change the batteries yet because I use it a lot! I typically just use it in the shallow end but you can attach a skimmer handle to it for the deep end. The cons My deep end is 10 feet and I found it difficult to push with the skimmer handle at that depth. But that’s really my only complaint, and not that big of a deal.

Great little unit
Our in-ground "spool" is 2,000 gallons. We bought a conventional suction powered vacuum but its a pain to set up for just a bit of sand. The pool blaster takes a few seconds to suck up the crud and we're ready for pool fun! The old vacuum hasn't been out in weeks. We bought the finer sand filter as there is a lot of construction around us and everything is always getting dusty - the sand filter works great. Update (5 years later) : still going strong! I finally had occasion to dismantle the motor and yes they corrected the design, the shaft and hub have a flat side to keep the impeller turning with the motor. I took it apart because water had gotten in and the motor rusted a bit. Wd40 and slight encouragement freed it. It rusted because it was put away improperly. Always store handle up, motor down so any errant water runs away from the motor. Update (year later): Water Tech sent me a new head unit which has been working fine for a year now. We run it 3 or 4 times a week for 10 minutes. I have not taken the new one apart to see if its construction is better than the original, but no problems to date and it works very well. Updating my rating from 2 to 4 stars. Now, if they just made a robot version... Update (after two months): It no longer picks up anything. The motor runs but the impeller does not turn. I opened the unit and discovered that the brass hub inside the large gear has a crack from one end to the other. I suspect that the hub is supposed to be a press fit onto the impeller shaft, but now it turns freely and the impeller does not move. I believe this is a fundamental design flaw in an otherwise great product. The gear should be secured to the shaft with a key/slot, set screw or even a cotter pin! I have emailed the company to see if they have an updated design and will advise here what I find, but in the mean time I would hold off buying.
