Top trumps for the Pz 38 (t)!
This Tamiya kit is fairly new out and I'd heard lots of positives about it. Turns out it was all true, excellent kit straight out of the box, virtually no flash, seam lines are minimal, attachment points clean up well and it fits together like a glove. In other words, the usual Tamiya standard! No rubber band tracks with this kit, link and length which go together pretty well. Really nice figure included, that sits on the open hatch. Easy and simple build, finish off with a decent paint job and some weathering and you have a fantastic build. Hopefully my photos do it justice. Definitely recommend!

Great little kit, simple to build but looks great and very detailed.
Build quality, fit and detail are far above expectation, considering the price. Photo etch is available on amazon if you want to go further than OOB build.

Built the Hobbyboss version of this tank and there is no comparison. This Tamiya version almost 'clicked' together and was a joy to build. The detail is really good.

Good, but a few things to watch out for and there's an error in the instructions!
I found this to be one of those kits that goes together so well, you take your eye off the ball in the detail. For example, there is some play in the fitment of the suspension and you need to be super careful to ensure everything is aligned, else you will find that when you fit the road wheels, not all of them make full contact with the ground; I have seen several pictures of this kit assembled where you can clearly see the tracks are not quite sitting flat to the ground... talking of the tracks - I found them an extremely tight fit and after painting/weathering, very tiresome to re-fit onto the tank. Again, seeing pictures of this kit assembled by others one can clearly see track links that have not been properly joined. My solution was to add an extra link to each side and reduce some of the tension in the stressed links, which worked really well. Other than that, well some of the storage handles are a bit over scaled and you'll need to drill out the MG's barrels, very lazy for Tamiya not to give us decent barrels... also, there's an error in the instructions (step 13) - part A23 fits the opposite way round and you need to remove the small plastic nub on its base - if you go to Tamiya's website, there is a PDF with the correction. I suspect most people don't check for updates before they assemble kits, but if Tamiya have made a mistake, they always put a correction on their website. Finally, again people are missing this and may be it's the somewhat vague instructions in this kit, but the exhaust on the actual tank sits vertically, people are modelling it an angle, which is wrong. Despite the gripes, it's a good kit straight of the box - link and length tracks I just don't like and this kits proves why - I'd rather see separate links for the entire track length as they are so much better. 7/10 from me, could have done better Tamiya.
