Work great and saves space
I use these to archive documents that were in binders. Now they take up half the space.

They work
I bought these after reading the reviews on the generic versions that indicated they have are some sharp edges. These were more expensive (but hardly life-changing) but They are well made and robust.

Binds Reports Satisfactorally, But Rather Flimsy
I received the box but it was partially open at one end. I counted the pieces just to make sure that they were all there. All of the pieces were present. I used the ACCO Prong Fasteners on ten (10) 200 page reports. I pressed firmly on each report when I closed the fasteners in order to assure that the report was tightly fastened. I put a cover page and an extra page at the end of each report to avoid the report pages from tearing. In order to assure that the fasteners would not work loose, I bent over the tang end of the fastener to avoid the slide from moving. I am satisfied with the ACCO Prong Fasteners.

These are very useful
These are very useful but they are not the same as the ACCO fasteners I used in the 80's, because the metal is thinner and lighter and bends much more than the earlier ones. I guess everyone is looking for ways to get by with the least amount of material, even the packaging is not the same i.e. the cardboard is thinner and breaks quicker. Still the fasteners serve a purpose. I use manila folders cut down to 8-1/2 x 11 size and punched with a 3-hole puncher. On some items I insert the faster from the front to the back if I plan on adding more. I measured the prong and it's 3-1/2 inches which means you can easily secure 3 inches of material.
