Baby K'tan Original Pre-Wrapped Baby Carrier & Wrap, Black, Small

I debated buying this for quite a while because of the reviews saying that it only really worked for younger babies and I was looking for something that would last a while, but boy am I glad that I decided to go ahead and try it anyways. Little bit of background, I have a very active almost two year old, and now a two month old as well. My main reason for wanting a carrier was for trips to the grocery store or other such outings where trying to either carry the baby in my arms or in the car seat would be difficult while also trying to keep track of my toddler. This carrier has worked so well for those activities that I also found myself using it around the house when trying to get stuff done and the baby doesn't want to be put down. Now, I haven't had it long enough to see if it really doesn't work well for bigger/older babies, but my honest opinion is that it is worth it even if it only lasts for the first six months, and if it last longer then that's just an added perk. Now that you know my overall feelings, here's a more detailed breakdown of the carrier: I love that you can slip it on. I've tried other carriers where you tie all the straps and thought it was too difficult and time consuming, and then just looked bulky. I didn't have any trouble finding the right size after using the sizing tool on Baby K'tan's website, so sizing wasn't as big of an issue as I thought it might be. It does get a little loose after extended use, but washing it does bring it back. The first couple times using it was a little tricky because the shoulder straps can either lay flat or twist on your shoulder, so you'll want to play around with it to find out how you like it. I LOVE the bag/extra support band. It's so convientient to just tie the band on and not have to worry about stuffing the bag somewhere and possibly losing it. I also debated getting the active one because I didn't want a carrier that would get too hot, but I really haven't had that much of an issue with the original. Overall great product and I would definitely recommend it!

The k'tan is by far my favorite way to hold and wear my baby from birth to about 4-5 months old. I'm a first time mom and bought a Bjorn, Ergo, Moby and a Maya sling along with the K'tan. I love the K'tan so much because it's comfortable, superbly easy to throw on, fits easily in a bag (like for emergency naps while out with a fussy baby) and my baby has, what my husband and I have now coined, "5-star snoozes". My thoughts on each: K'tan: Super easy to use--even for a sleep deprived mom. I used it since my baby was a 6.5lbs newborn and still using it now that he's closing on 13lbs. Baby fits snuggly on my chest with his head pressed against my heart (this is the secret) and the shoulder straps provide the baby with extra head, neck and back support so he always feels secure enough to sleep through almost anything. As long as you have it on correctly, pull the back support band to the center of your back and get the right size, the baby will not topple out even if you bend over. Sizing seems to run larger so if you're on the lower end of the size range go with one size down. There are no straps or buckles and it's made of super soft cotton which is probably why this is the only carrier my baby has never cried in - unless he was overtired to begin with (my fault), but even then, he settled with minutes the moment he goes in. That said, once my baby got to about 14-15 pounds around 5 months old I moved into the Ergo for more support. Bjorn: Easy to get on and to put baby in but since it's heavier and structured, I only lasted about 30-45 minutes before getting tired. Also, no matter how much you adjust the straps, the baby can only be pressed so much against my body. This results in baby's head and shoulder bobbing. I tried it when he was a newborn and yesterday at 3 months and his head and upper body are still 3-4 inches away--a distance that makes snoozing on my chest pretty impossible. He tried to sleep upright and no matter how motionless I was, the moment his head bobbed he'd wake up. This can probably only be used when baby is awake. Looks good though. Ergo: CANNOT live without the Ergo once baby hit 14-15 pounds. I can go hours walking, shopping, etc and literally feel no soreness or discomfort and baby always passes out within minutes. Moby: Straps are too long, prone to get dirty from dragging on the floor while putting, too complicated to put on and not supportive enough no matter how tight you tie. All recipes for disaster when you've got a tired cranky baby that wants to sleep and you can't untangle and put on the Moby quick enough.

Overall, this is a very good carrier. It works especially well for newborns and smaller babies because you can use the material to create a head-support-pocket, which allows you to be truly hands-free. The K'tan is easy to use, and works well for baby naps because you can wear your baby and still sit down or do other things. I find this awkward and difficult in the Ergo. It's comfortable enough, but definitely becomes less comfortable the longer you wear your baby. Adjusting the straps helps--especially pulling the back loop down and shifting your baby upward on your chest. Also try adjusting the larger loops so the weight is more evenly distributed between your shoulders and lower back. This carrier also allows for a facing out position, which my daughter really enjoys now that she is old enough. Some cons I have found with this carrier: --It stretches out after a few wears, so you'll need to wash it and dry it to get it snug again. --Sizing can be tricky. Just like maternity clothes, the K'tan use pre-pregnancy sizes, but I don't find that to be incredibly accurate. Pre-pregnancy, I was a size 6, now, almost five months postpartum, I'm more like a 10. I am 5'7'' and around 165, and found that the small was the best fit. But I carry most of my weight in my lower body, so those with a different weight distribution might do better with a medium. Also, my wife had to buy a different size, so partners, spouses, etc, can't necessarily share the carrier with you. --When the baby is squirmy, this carrier can be a pain. Because the fabric is so soft and stretchy, my daughter can really push herself into some awkward positions in this carrier. Once she falls asleep, it's fine, but getting there can sometimes be difficulty. Also, she doesn't always enjoy having the fabric on her head, so she'll push her head out of it. Once she goes back to sleep, I can tuck her in again, but this means a period of time where I need to support her head. Despite these cons, I still highly recommend the carrier.

I have a very fussy (gassy) baby that hardly takes naps or sleeps for longer than 2 hours. There are times when he refuses to be put down due to gas. I can't sit or do anything else but stand and rock him sometimes! I spent months deciding on a baby wrap, I actually had the moby wrap on my baby registry but didnt receive it. I was unsure if I wanted to spent $50 on what is essentially a long piece of fabric. I looked at so many other slings and wraps and really was stuck on what to buy! I was thisclose to ordering the moby so many times, then by chance on one of the mommy blogs I follow someone mentioned the K'tan. I instantly liked it better than the moby, bc though it is more money, it is already wrapped for you all you have to do is loop it through your body. I watched a few videos and it seemed easy and fast to put on and off. I ordered XS since I am 5'3 and under 100lbs. It was a tight fit at first, but it definitely stretches out. I can't stand for long periods of time (I had spine surgery) so having a wrap that was comfortable was key. I can def. stand and walk what's good distance for me with my baby in it! It distributed the weight evenly. From the beginning my son loved being in the wrap! I bought it when he was a little too big to be in the special nursing position, but now the hug position works just fine for us to nurse. Compared to walking and rocking him around endlessly, he falls asleep in less than half the time when in the wrap. The best bonus is that since he is gassy, being in the wrap especially helps to put pressure on his tummy to relieve gas. The only negatives I see is that you cant share if you and your hubby are different sizes. My hubby would be a Large so we cant share it which sucks. Next baby I will probably buy him his own! He thinks it looks cool and was jealous I have an easy way of holding and snuggling baby! he is willing to wear it so its def. dad friendly. The other negative is it doesn't fold up nicely to go in the diaper bag; its quite bulky. Another thing is the sash is def. needed, i don't know why they have "free sash included!" in advertising when its a necessary item. My son is about 20lbs and still fits very comfortably in it and still loves it, but for long walks around, having a long (lengthwise) sash would be more secure since he is bigger and taller. I'm very happy I found the k'tan, I only wish I had it when he was a newborn, how much easier things would have been! Im thrilled I have it already for another baby though!

I purchased the Baby K'tan carrier when my daughter was about 3 weeks old. She was fairly fussy and wasn't soothed when I put her in the Baby Bjorn carrier that I had used with her older sister. I thought that she might do better in a sling-style carrier since she could be in a cradle position close to my body, rather than dangling in a kangaroo-like position in the Baby Bjorn. Indeed, the first time I put her in the Baby K'tan (she was screaming her head off at the time), she drifted right off to sleep and stayed asleep for several hours. However, when I tried to use the K'tan a second and third time with her, she wasn't having it! I tried her back in the ol' Baby Bjorn after several more attempts in the K'tan and she was soothed after all. My conclusion, it's not really the type of carrier itself, but the baby's mood. Both carriers worked with her on occasion and both didn't work on occasion. What I did like about the K'tan was that it WAS easy to put on, especially compared to the Moby wrap (also a soft, sling-style carrier) that I had tried with my first daughter. I watched a quick You Tube video on how to use the K'tan and mastered it in a jiffy. I did find that I needed to adjust the baby in the K'tan often to keep her head from slipping too far under the fabric. As far as comfort for mommy, I found the K'tan to be just OK. I find that ALL carriers take a toll on my neck and shoulders, but that was probably a bit more true with the K'tan as compared to the Baby Bjorn. Overall, I would say that this is a good carrier, but if you're looking for a better solution in terms of comforting your baby, I don't think you will find it in the K'tan. If you're buying it because you like the Moby wrap concept, but want something that's easier to put on, I would recommend the K'tan.

I never write reviews for things, but when looking for a wrap for my fourth baby I scoured the reviews and compared wraps for days before taking a chance on this one, so thought this may help someone else. I’ve used Solly and Moby wraps in the past, and was annoyed by the yards and yards of fabric and intricate twisting you had to do to use the other wraps. The fabric always dragged the ground or floor and I had to lay down a screaming baby while I was trying to wrap them around myself.. they worked okay but were enough of a pain that I didn’t use them very often. Only a couple of weeks after my son was born, I can already tell how much more often I will use this baby Ktan the 4th time around. It is so much easier to put on, I can do it while holding my baby and get him in much easier. I’ve even been able to nurse him in it which I was never able to master with my other wraps. So much less material to deal with, easier to shove in a diaper bag, and nothing drags the dirty floor! I will say it’s possibly not as breathable and stretchy as the solly wrap, but it’s made of a jersey, t shirt like material, so not bad at all but definitely superior to the material of the Moby. So far my son only really wants to be held for naps, and with a 2, 4, and 6 year old also, this thing is a lifesaver to have my hands free. Definitely recommend!

The K'tan is awesome for even tiny infants. My little guy was 7 pounds when we started using this. It allows me to be close to my baby and comfortably take him places with me without worry about him getting fussy. He loves how this snuggles him into my chest. This carrier also allows me to get things done around the house while still having him close. He cries a LOT less, and the K'tan gets me out of the rocking chair where I can rinse bottles, type on my computer, straighten up the house, etc without having to put him down or do everything one handed. The only other carrier I tried before this one was the Ergo with the infant insert, which doesn't even come CLOSE to this carrier. His head flopped around in the Ergo and I couldn't' feel him against me. The K'Tan is small enough to put in a good sized diaper bag. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use this or that I wouldn't be able to do it without someone to help me position the baby, but the videos on the baby K'tan website helped immensely for getting my baby into a great Kangaroo position. I was able to do it on my own after watching the video a few times. This is a great solution for us and I recommend it to others with newborns. I read most of the reviews of this product and had received a personal recommendation from a friend about this being an essential baby item. I have no regrets about buying it. I purchased the small and am 5'4 and 148 post pregnancy. The only disadvantage of this product is that it is sized. My partner is going to have to get her own K'tan because we are different sizes. If you and your partner want to share a sling and are different sizes, you may want to try something else.

I read the glowing positive reviews of this carrier and decided this was what I was looking for: a flexible carrier without buckles and straps or long yardages of fabric at a reasonable price. It took me a while to decide on ordering the small (I am 5'5"). I did have some misgivings about the sizing of this item as it didn't seem like it would fit my husband and I really didn't want to get a separate carrier for him. But we figured since I would be the main person using it, we would try my size first. I read the enclosed instructions carefully and managed to get the K'tan on, albeit with some difficulty. I do realize that this is something that would likely get easier with practice. My stumbling block really came when I tried to put my baby in this carrier. It was very difficult, very awkward and I suspect very uncomfortable for her because she cried every time I attempted to use this. When I finally was able to situate her in this sling her face was mashed up against my chest; when I repositioned her to free up her face, her shoulder ended up being cramped instead. I probably tried to use this carrier about five or six times - not once did my baby like it and not once did I feel comfortable with it. She also got very sweaty every time she was in it so I'd probably opt for the mesh version if it is something you are bent on getting. I ended up returning this.

non è comodissimo, va bene per uno solo dei genitori (a meno che i genitori non abbiano stesso peso e stessa conformazione fisica), si strige un po' lavandolo. cmq se a pochi mesi il bambino è comodo, crescendo (poco, parliamo sempre di lattanti) non ci entra più. Non lo consiglio

All other carriers are a waste of time and money. No straps no buckles. Very easy to use and most comfortable for me and my baby. And I have tried every possible carrier in the market! Can't imagine it's just two pieces of cloth! It's a must have for moms managing alone.

Muy bien para evitar la displasia. No obstante, talla muy pequeño y resulta incómodo para la madre o el padre. Lo volvería a comprar, pero en una talla mayor.

Item is very well stitched and feels like it would hold up to many uses. Unfortunately the recommended size is just nice..without actually strapping in an infant. I was recommended the S size, but when I strap my 2 months old infant in, it gets really tight and becomes uncomfortable for both mother and child. If you are recommended the S size, I would advise going for an M size.
