Peru is a little-known hidden gem when it comes to premium Cacao products, and could be considered the world's best "boutique" exporter of Cacao. While Côte d'Ivoire in West Africa is know as the worlds largest exporter of Cacao, Peru is building a reputation as having the most exotic and best tasting Cacao, extremely rich with polyphenols. In fact, recently new strains exclusive to Peru have been discovered in the country including a white Cacao bean. Peru popularly grows Trinitary, Amazon foreign and Creole (Criollo) cacao varieties. The Creole variety (our variety used) is expanding rapidly because of its higher quality and taste. Our Cacao is cultivated in the Satipo, Junín region at 2,821ft above sea level, near the Ene river, which the Ashaninkas people cultivated this sacred Cacao criollo variety for years. Sourced directly from farmers, cultivated sustainably and in accordance with fair trade practices.
