I come from a big city, moved to a smaller city and then to an even smaller city. I have always wanted to have a place separate from home in order to find peace and serenity. I loved this book because in a very simple approach the author shares lot's of details that you know have brought her joy! I appreciated feeling that connection because moving around so much is hard to envision. The pictures are great visuals to the explanations. I found this book very relaxing and easy to imagine what I can do.

I really enjoyed this book. This book breaks down the process of getting that home away from home, and how with a little work this dream is available for anyone. The sections with crafts and recipes just add to the book to assure that this will be a book you will keep on hand for a long time. I loved the inspiring pictures. I will definitely be finding and following her blog to continue to get great recipes and ideas.

This was a fantastic read! I enjoyed following the author's journey to buying her family cabin and making it a true home where family and friends can make lifelong memories. From a practical standpoint, she also goes into great detail sharing tips for all the things you wouldn't think of for setting up and maintaining a second home. I'd recommend this for anyone who is in the process of looking for a second home or even if you already own one - whether it's a cabin, beach home, or some other "retreat."

It can be overwhelming, being part of the daily grind of the big cities, sometimes I just feel like jumping in the car on Friday afternoon and escaping for some well earned R&R.It is always inspiring when you see somebody who has made the leap of faith a made their dream a reality. The author covers some great topics throughout the book and the and the cabin looks absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be using some of these handy hints when I finally get my dream cabin.

The photography in this book got my juices flowing with ideas for our family weekend getaway. We have a beach house, not a cabin, but I was inspired with her ideas of how to entertain the children. The “camp” themed weekends are great! The recipes sound good, as as I love to cook, I am always searching for new ideas. I think I will be checking out her blog as well.
