The Cat's Outta The Bag--Tugger Gives SturdiBag 5 Stars
Traveling with a cat who hasn't been anywhere but short trips to the vet was an adventure. This bag was a HUGE help...Likes:--This bag gave him lots of privacy while still providing proper ventilation. Cats don't want the entire world to see them when they're nervous so it was nice to be able to open one side vent or the top vent and velcro it open when needed.Sturdibag is SO much better than other carriers I've had as far as handle options.--The shoulder strap is highly adjustable and the rubberized pad is movable but stays in place where you put it and doesn't slip off your shoulder when the animal shifts around. The handle carry was perfect to be able to grab as we entered the plane and then to help him slip under and out from under the seat.--The fabric and mesh panels are very well made. Unless your cat is a pro at this and loves his carrier he will try to get out at least once. (Trim your cat's claws before the trip!) This didn't snag once and he sure tried more than once.--The small zipper access at the top is nice to be able to put a hand in when needed without opening a hole big enough to let the cat out of the bag. This is not an entry but a "here's a treat kitty" hole.--This bag has a short (maybe 18-20 inches?) leash type tether in the bag that can be clipped to your pet's harness or collar. If you have an escape artist this is a definite bonus. My cat was not eager to escape so I kept this clipped on prior to the airport until we came through security and then unclipped it. The tether is long enough that your pet can stand up and turn around.--The bag comes with a super soft cozy pad. The brother cats were sleeping in this carrier prior to its designed use (i.e. what a great bed!) however, I would absolutely recommend removing this for any kind of longer trip. It should be replaced with a carrier insert that will absorb any fluids should the pet have an accident. Our trip was 12 hours and he didn't have one but don't expect that! (I bought two kinds but the Dry Fur--Small 2 pack was by far my favorite since they have a sturdy backing and can be placed one on top of the other. If you have an accident pull one out and dispose of it. They absorb a LOT.--This bag IS mostly waterproof AND washable. We discovered that on a not-so-dry run vet visit where an accident occurred on the way home. Thus the above advice on the inserts. The foam pad (also washable) would absorb some of any accident your pet might have but you don't want your fur baby sitting in THAT on a long trip.--You may see comments about the cardboard/hard foam bottom. This is its own sleeve UNDER the compartment where the pet sits. With the accident I had, there was no leakage down onto this. I'm not saying this could never happen but it didn't happen to me. I believe you can order additional ones from SturdiBag so this was not a concern for me. (Obviously remove this foam core before washing.) This keeps the carrier light, and frankly, I think most of them have some sort of pasteboard or cardboard.--The flexible aspect of this carrier is unique. This carrier looks HUGE and when you get it you will think "this will never fit"...but it did. It was taller than the regulation for my flights on Frontier but the fact that its made to flex and slide under various seats was perfect. It fit in front to back, by the way.Dislikes, or things they could improve:--Pockets. There is only one small pocket (half of the back end). I was traveling with my pet's medical records and his insulin in a chill bag, plus a small amount of food and a collapsible water dish. Because airlines only allow you two carry-ons and one is the cat. All my extras had to go in a roller bag which goes overhead. Total pain.An extra few pockets would have been great.--Suggestion...It would be nice if there were some way to give this a side "sleeve" that slides over the arm of a roller bag to allow it to perch without sliding off the top. This bag is large, and though light, with a 13+lb BIG cat (not fat...but giant) it got pretty heavy during the long hauls through 3 airports.

Fit on a Delta Boeing 767-400ER, Economy class C aisle!! and Delta MD-88.
Flew with my cat on a Delta Boeing 767-400ER. The seat dimension I was given for the underseat was 14"X12"X8.5"H. I was so worried it wouldn't fit. After doing a LOT of research on the seat on this plane, I chose to sit in seat 23C aisle within the Economy class. The top did get pushed down a little under the seat but nothing bad. The reason why I chose aisle C was because under every other aisle in Economy and Comfort Plus (I believe no pets allowed in First Class on this flight due to seats that recline all the way back), there was either an electronic box that took away about 3 inches from the width or some kind of vent on the bottom of the seat which took away 1.5-2 inches from the height. Aisle C was the only one without any obstructions, giving me a full 14"X12"X10"H or 11"H. After takeoff, I pulled the carrier out so I could see my cat and give him that extra inch or so back in height. We had a layover in ATL where my cat was given the option to use a portable litterbox I had brought with us. He didn't go of course, but he enjoyed being able to walk around for a while before our next flight. By the way, ATL airport has really clean, new-looking pet areas throughout their airport :)During our second flight, which was about an hour and half long, we flew on a Delta MD-88, seat 21D aisle. My cat had no problems fitting under this seat. This seat had even MORE room than the previous Delta 767-400ER.The TSA agent that helped me while going through Security wanted to know what kind of carrier it was and asked about the quality of the product. I was pretty proud of my carrier lol so gave it high recommendations. Just in case the Delta Gate Agent or Ticketing Agent gave me a difficult time, I cut the bottom foundation to 15 inches (took 3 inches off) which did not affect the strength of the product at all. I just had to make sure it was centered. I also took out the cat bed foam piece and put a Dry Fur pee pad for the trip. The Dry Fur pad has some kind of structure also in it but has a lot of give so it helped to keep the carrier from being flimsy after I cut the bottom foundation. My cat still had the full 18 inches in length to stretch , but i could show the agents that it was somewhat close to the required under seat dimensions. Oh, and they never asked the dimensions or anything, so you probably won't have any problems with the size. The air vents/windows were PERFECT for my cat. I love how they include flaps to cover the windows/doors to make my cat feel more safe. I kept the largest door window vent and one of the top windows covered while leaving the rear and other top window open for air. The cover flaps gave me an extra sense of security to keep my cat from clawing out or pulling the zippers open. whew. Believe me, he tried his hardest. His veterinarian and the vet techs always comment how strong he is so this carrier definitely is made well. (**cut your cats nails a couple days before flying!**). Another thing that this carrier has is a clip on each zipper to prevent the cat from escaping. My cat knows how to paw and claw his way out of a carrier so these were totally necessary for me. This company has blown me away with all the small details of this carrier.I suffered from a recent back muscle spasm and from reoccurring shoulder impingement pain, so I worried about carrying my 13-14lb cat around the airports. The shoulder strap is so durable and so comfortable! I love how it attaches to the carrier via 4 points instead of 2 points like most pet carriers. This lessens the stress on the hooks and clips.I really cannot speak more highly of this product.

Perfect for my dog - and for under seat airline travel.
I spent hours on line reading reviews on several carriers. I chose this item, and it worked perfectly! My dog Stella is approximately 14" from neck to tail, 15" tall and weighs 19#'s. I needed a carrier that would fit under the seat in front of me on Southwest Airlines. This carrier worked perfectly. When it arrived I thought it would be too large, but all the reviews I read said it would fit and it did. I did not put in the top supports, and it still kept its shape and allowed it to press down easily to slide under the seat. Stella was very comfortable and did not make a peep. She could easily stand up and move around (while not under the seat) and the carrier held her weight nicely. The pad is nice and cushy and the carrier had ample ventilation and places where she could look out and not feel too confined. The SWA gate agents didn't question the size or the way it fit under the seat (under the middle seat as it may be too large to fit under an aisle seat). The carrying strap is comfortably padded so it was easy to walk with . I did strap it to a rolling luggage cart so it was easier to roll through the airport. I unzipped the top panel so she could stick her head out and look around while rolling to security and to the gate. She was the hit of Midway airport!! The only suggestion I have is that it would be nice to have both ends unzip and open as it would be easier to get her in and out of the carrier (instead of having to back her in or making her turn around). Wonderful item - looks like it will withstand many more trips!! Totally pleased!!!

Well designed for air travel
We use this to carry our 5.5 k miniature poodle by air. The large is probably the largest carrier you can use. for air travel. We have used it for three overseas trips so far and have never had a problem. She has plenty of room to move around and seems very comfortable in it. The flexible hoops holding the top up are perfect because you can push them down slightly to get the carrier under the seat in front of you. Mostly the carrier sits between your feet but it works if you insist on in cabin for your pet.

Excellent travel bag
It is so well designed and resistent. I like that it's flexible so it can be easily placed under the seat. Highly recommended.
