Sean Rowe, who the Wall Street Journal wrote 'recalls the ecstatic intensity of late-'60s Van Morrison and stark subtlety of late-era Johnny Cash' has created a beautifully primal work. MADMAN is deliberately simple in both arrangement and composition. It is soul music in the purest and most literal sense, hypnotic rhythms, warmly distorted guitars and Rowe's incredible voice recalling a time, real or imagined, when music and people seemed distinctly more connected.

BRILLIANT WRITER, GREAT DELIVERY
I have not been this taken with a songwriter since discovering Michael J. Sheehy.Mr. Rowe's voice has been compared to everyone from Tom Waits to JohnnyCash, including Greg Brown, Leonard Cohen etc. There is even an element ofNick Cave in his balladry. His songwriting is as if Cohen and Waits hadan illegitimate son and grafted Tom Jones' voice box on him. This is my second album by Sean Rowe, the first being the exquisite Salesman AndThe Shark that moves from strength to strength--complete with the Surf Guitar endingto the song Downwind. Although all the strengths are intact on Madman, brilliant, deep lyrics and impassioned delivery I feel it is not quite as breathtaking as The Salesman& The Shark--it is still a million miles ahead of most singer/songwriter's fare and I stronglysuggest having it in one's collection. The disco-fied soul song Desiree seems a bitout of place and a couple of the songs don't quite reveal the God-head. The goodand the great far outweigh those minor flaws, the song My Little Man in the hands ofa lesser songwriter could be a sentimental pile of crap, but Mr. Rowe turns it into adeep and touching ballad--the same could be said for Looking For The Master. There isa bit more "bluesy" rock on this album, the great Done Calling and Shine On My Diamond Ringboth rock with Waitsian swagger. The album is closed by the beautiful It Won't Be Long-- anothermoving ballad. I would recommend this brilliant CD very, very highly. Mr. Rowe is a POWERHOUSE(!) of a writer and singer.

VERY solid album
I had not heard of Sean Rowe until about a year ago. I got invited to see him live. Unbelievable guitar player. Great voice as well. I have been listening to his albums ever since. Madman is my favorite. Love the title track. Check this album out. You will not regret it.
