really good , especially if you're a bit down.
Sellers at his best. How anybody could have even thought that Steve Martin could hold a candle to him baffles me. Nothing on the telly ? Nothing new there. Grab a copy of this, and a few beers. Perhaps a tin of Deep Heat for the aches you'll have, laughing at it. Go for it. I've now got the whole collection. Come and join me, you won't regret it.

Truly the last
Revenge of the Pink Panther was Peter Sellers' last outing as the bungling Inspector Clouseau (if alive). The plot is a bit dated now and to be fair this one was made more than 30 years ago and sometimes can be cause for some discomfort with a conspiracy to murder the great French detective of the Surete as he lurched from one disaster to another and Burt Kwouk's Cato steals every move for the first time in this film despite the fact that his earlier appearances were to a lesser extent and in fact, one would have expected Herbert Lom's Chief Inspector Dreyfuss to be killed off following disintigration in the earlier film. Even so, the film is the last fully-fledged Pink Panther films for Peter Sellers died not long after while several attempts to revive the Frenchman had been hopelessly unsuccessful and why? Its because you can't replace Peter Sellers.

A real gem.
On what was to be his last complete Pink Panther film,Sellers once again shines in the role that was meant for him,as does Herbert Lom,I wanted this for my collection of funny films and it does not let down at all,a pity there were no more,if you are an afficionado of The Panther series then add this to your collection,it would not be out of place,I guarantee you.

Weakest of the 70s Peter Sellers pink panthers , sadly .
Part of the mgm 6 disc set of Sellers pink panthers ( Return Of The pink panther is not in the set as it's a Universal dvd)Anyway , whilst this film has it's fair few sellers / clouseau classic moments it does seem like it's a series of skits joined together by a weak sometimes plodding plot . Don't get me wrong it's a fun watch but not as good as the previous movies . Guess the tensions behind the scenes didn't help , Sellers didn't really speak to Blake Edwards by this point and also suffered Ill health , marital issues and struggled with many personal problems sadly .

Satisfying Valedictory for Sellers' Clouseau
I'm going to preface my review by saying that in my opinion Peter Sellers was the greatest comic force to grace the silver screen. When he picked his material correctly. When Sellers reassumed the Clouseau character in 1975 with "The Return of the Pink Panther" he had been wandering in the wilderness somewhat(see "The Blockhouse"). Sellers regained some box office clout but I get the feeling that he may have been slightly bored treading familiar ground. That said, the Clouseau films probably gave him the standing to capture the part of Chance the Gardener in "Being There", arguably his greatest performance. As for this film, it's consistently funny in a scattershot way but doesn't reach the classic status of "A Shot in the Dark". What I particularly admired here is that Sellers defers some of his screen time to the talented Burt Kwouk as Cato much like he did for Herbert Lom's Dreyfus in "The Pink Panther Strikes Again". My advice to anybody unfamiliar with the Clouseau series is to watch them sequentially to enhance your enjoyment.
