Excellent quality and design
Re-discovered hiking, biking, jogging. So this year instead of carrying around a hydro flask, wasting plastic with bottled water, borrowing friends equipment or just carrying a poorly designed backpack I purchased the Camelbak HAWG. This pack has ample amounts of storage for day hiking. The weight is distributed perfectly with the easily adjustable straps. The bladder on this is amazing. Really enjoy the 1/4 turn lock. The plastic is very durable. My lone complaint with the bladder is that the material that it hooks onto is very difficult to unhook it. The quick release attachments make for an easy, no mess process. The straw is insulated. Insulation doesn’t really keep it cold, but it does provide for some extra protection. There is also a quick disconnect for the mouthpiece which makes for easy cleaning/replacement.Only thing I would have liked is some outside netting. However, there is Velcro and some neat little web system for which you can purchase attachments. I recently bought the attachments, but have not had an opportunity to use yet.The bottom of the pack is very thick and can take a beating for a while. Which is great if you are drowning lots of time on trails.I have been using the pack for 2 months now. This is my first backpack that I have ever purchased with this kind of dedicated use. I’m also kind of a cheap person. So I am very critical of things, especially expensive items. I’m very happy with this purchase, and feel like I’m getting my monies worth.I will come back and update this at the end of the summer. So far the pack and I have logged 140 miles since mid-May

Great Hydration Day Pack
I use the Camelbak H.A.W.G for hiking. It works great for this purpose. The water bladder is extremely high quality. I expect it will hold up for years. All of the parts are modular, so you can replace pieces if they go bad, from the bladder to the hose to the mouth piece. It is all replaceable. The bite valve cover is nice and will keep it clean and prevent it from leaking. In addition, there is an on off valve near the bite valve to shut off flow to prevent leaks as well. It is easy to use and is a nice feature. The bag itself is much bigger than I thought it would be. It will easily hold everything you could possibly need for an all day excursion out on the trail from food, a change of clothes, survival gear. I pack a ham radio in it. It is big enough to hold my 13" macbook though I don't usually hike with my macbook. The molle loops are a nice touch in case you should run out of room in the bag, you can add additional storage or a first aid kit to the outside of the bag.I highly recommend this for hydration and carrying all your necessities when out hiking for the day.

Pleasantly surprised.
Where do I begin? Being prior service I have and have used a large variety of bags. Some that cut into my arm joints, some that are to bulky, and some that are more bag than I need. Before I bought this one I did about a week of research on a variety of bags and watched tons of reviews. Even asked a few questions of the reviews here on Amazon. I finally decided on this fantastic piece of workmanship. The day I opened it I felt like I might have made a mistake it didn't look very big. I was pleasantly surprised when I started loading my minimalist gear into to find that it all fit fairly well. I had to get rid of some gear which is fine. That was the point of getting a smaller bag. It sits well on my back when sinched up on my shoulders there's a nice distribution of weight. I've been using it on a day to day basis for work I fill the 3l bladder (with water & ice) and it stays cold my whole shift. I currently have in a my handgun, first aid kit, additional drinks & food, my surface pro & charger, and several other small items. With all this in my bag I still have loads more space to put things in. I've attached a dump pouch just for faster access on energy drink or snacks. I've added grim locks and S beeners for later use. I have a hiking trip coming up and a camping trip coming up and will post my thoughts after those are done. Overall I'm very happy with this bag, except 1 small change I would make. I would've like to seen molle on the side like the gen 2 bag this would be great for a gerber pouch or a mag pouch or ifak. Other than that it's definitely a winner.Update: have been using this bag for about a yr now. Used it for an EDC, camping, hiking, and school and I'm still extremely happy with it. I've mad just 1 minor modifications to it and that was to braid 550 cord to the handle for a meatier holding surface other than that great purchase.

Fantastic backpack, perfect for longer day trips.
This backpack is the perfect size for a single long day, is made out of durable material, has all the small Camelbak improvements that I like in the Mil Spec lines (better on/off valve, bite cover, valve at the base of the bladder, etc), and is highly adjustable, so nothing flops around if it's not entirely full. I haven't used the belt, it seems a bit undersized, and I wish I could remove it without cutting it off, but that is a minor drawback that doesn't warrant the removal of a single star. Overall, very, very happy with this purchase and expect it to last a very long time!

Arrived a day early Quality is obviously great. The pack looks really well put together
Arrived a day early Quality is obviously great. The pack looks really well put together. I like the many adjustments and such that can be made to it. Like with every pack I've ever bought there never quite seems to be enough space to quite fit everything I want. However I do have to admit that there is more than enough space to fit everything that I need in a day pack. What has impressed me the most in the insulation of the water bladder, it stays nicely cool. What I've typically done is put a full water bladder in the fridge overnight. Next morning insert it into the pack and go about my day. I've spent up to 11 hours in 100F/38C heat and still the water was cool, no longer cold, but still refreshingly cool that for me has been the greatest bonus to this.

Good pack
Good roomy pack. Rode well for 10 mile hikes. Comfortable shoulder straps & belt keeps it riding on hips well, even though the belt is thin. I would add molle slots on the sides. I would give it 5 stars but water tasted bad. I assume b/c I didn't clean it well enough.
