Hayward SPX3010C 1-Horsepower Impeller Replacement for Hayward Super Ii Pump

I ordered this impeller to replace my damaged one. It was an oem part and arrived the second day.

The older one looked exactly like this and I didn’t even see any damage on it. After I put this on the suction power in the skimmer is so strong that I didn’t when to test it with my fingers. Taking the old one off is a pain the but, you move it clockwise to loosen it which it opposes the “Lefty loosy righty tighty” rule. You get what I mean, please try the opposite direction if it doesn’t come off. I gave myself blisters from pushing it too hard in the counter clockwise direction

It probably works harder than just about anything else you own, yet it is virtually indestructible. I used to be in the pool business for many years and I've probably only seen a few of these break where there wasn't an accident or neglect involved. That said, I was on my 4th motor replacement in 20 years and felt that changing out the impeller was probably worth it as a preventative.Changing it out is easy once you have the pump pulled apart, and that's easy too. You will need something to hold onto the shaft at the back of the motor or through the air vent, but then this simply unscrews. If it's a little tight, you might have to jerk it loose, but still less pressure than opening up a lot of food jars.If you are replacing the impeller, also make sure you replace the internal pump seal as well that's the two part unit that has a spring like unit that slides onto the back of the impeller and the white disk in a rubber tire part that fits into the back of the housing. These units do wear and it's just not worth putting it back together without those parts and having the thing leak.The only caveat in installing this impeller is to make sure that it is hand tight. It should just tighten itself because the shaft goes the direction to tighten it, but I have seen one case where someone didn't tighten it down properly and it leaked when starting. The installation is pretty straight forward though. If you can remove a few bolts and screw in a light bulb, you can replace an impeller.

Our pool pump motor died after many years of use, so I purchased a replacement and attempted to change it myself. In the process, the old impeller with it's rubberized connector broke off the motor stem. I went to Leslie's and purchased a replacement, only to get home and find the same impeller on Amazon for half the price.Since I was replacing the motor anyway, installation was simple. Basically replacement requires unscrewing six bolts, removing the old impeller, then putting the new impeller on and bolting the motor back into place. As a do it yourselfer, installation was easy to do. Replaced my original on said sp3005 was 3/4 to 1 hp went with this one since the old one was all plastic and broke. This one has a brass shaft and is slightly larger but fits and pump unit never had this much suction. Replaced with seal kit new diffuser and ring all that and wow.

This was a perfect fit for my old Hayward super 2 pump. I couldn’t see anything wrong with the old impeller but when I changed it out it made a huge difference. It wasn’t hard to do either. An easy DIY job. Make sure you replace the seals at the same time, it only makes sense to replace the seals as well for a complete pump rebuild.

Used this product to replace my worn out parts on my pool pump. Good quality, greatly improved overall performance of the pump, and the noise level is far lower from what it used to be. Recommended.

Hayward figured out they had a poor design on the original impeller as it was ALL plastic with the replacement now having a bronze threaded bushing.
