I chose this boomerang after having watched a top 10 boomerangs video on YouTube. Don't listen to the trash talking in Amazon reviews. This was the second favorite of the reviewer on YouTube. I just ordered another one. This boomerang will come back to you, depending on the conditions and your skill at throwing. It is a good flyer, and my family has enjoyed it very much. It's also good for smaller areas, as it has a fairly short flight arc. The checkerboard pattern on one of the lobes is wearing off pretty quickly. But that can't be helped. I would recommend this booma without hesitation as a suitable beginner boomerang. June 14th 2020 - I have been throwing this boomerang several hours per week for about a month now. I have developed the strength in my arm and adjusted my throwing style to the point where I am now getting consistent returns to the point of origin, and frequent catches. I would also note, per the complaint of the gentleman from Saudi Arabia, this boomerang will injure you if you take a direct hit. My daughter was struck directly in the kneecap, and it bled pretty good. So be careful, when catching!

Full disclosure, I'm about 15 hours into throwing boomerangs. This boomerang is probably better as a second boomerang once you have gotten the hang of an easier one (see my review of the Manu Pro, also from Colorado Boomerangs, which I recommend). Fast Throw is an actual boomerang sporting event and this type of boomerang is made for that sport. It does come back for experienced users consistently but requires a hard throw with ample spin applied. The construction may seem cheap to some buyers but it is robust and made for that particular event. I do wonder if a heavier construction would help apply a better throw and spin. My tips are to throw it at a slightly upwards trajectory (maybe 25% vs. the horizon), almost completely vertically-oriented, and make sure it has enough spin on release, it is very important. Also keep the wind on your left cheek, and make sure you have the proper side facing you. Wear both eye protection and gloves, it is easy to lose it in the sun and boomerangs in general can cut up your hands if they hit with enough speed. Have patience, and watch some instructional videos online, as well as following the good directions Colorado Boomerangs sends with these. If you find it isn't reaching you on the throw, throw it slightly higher and make sure there is enough spin, which is very important. If it keeps going back too far behind or in front of you (making a "4" instead of a circle), check the wind direction and throw more to your right. If it is too windy, put the boomerang away and fly a kite instead, because anything over 9 mph or so will blow it all over the place. Also, you can look at it sideways and see if you need to apply less or more warp, though frankly that is a more advanced tip and you should really just focus initially on getting it to make a complete circuit and your release. my kid wanted a boomerang for Christmas and we bought this one. we went to amazon to choose a boomerang and he was interested in this one for some reason. when he opened it for Christmas he was a bit disappointed that it was small but when he threw it it looked so cool even to me. he loved it a lot and was quite good at throwing it. but then our dog was messing with my son by stealing the boomerang and when he got it back there were bite marks. he was so sad until he threw it again to see how messed up it was. it flew around and came right back to him . this boomerang is invincible

This boomerang works great! My 12 year old son loves it! After a few throws he was getting it to return right back to him. It's difficult to use in any wind as it's pretty light, but it's tons of fun to play with.

Hold it so the angle of it before you throw is about 66 degrees from horizontal (33 from vertical), then throw it hard and straight as if you're going to hit some directly in front of you. When you let go, let go so that it takes off at an angle of about 10-20 degrees inclined from the ground (i.e slightly rising). If you have a light breeze that will help it return (small kids will probably need this, my 9 yr old boy for example). If right-handed you'll want the breeze approaching you from your left, a bit in front of you. For example, if the breeze is coming from the west, face north-west when you throw it (a little more north than west). Note that there are easier ones than this one, return with less effort, but this will make nice wide arches and stay up in the air for some time. Don't expect it to be super easy. My son and I played with it for 30 minutes, and I only caught 3 of my throws, in part because it goes fast and I was kind of scared to catch it, but if you do it right it will slow down and spin as it descends vertically above you ... I only had that happen 1-2 times.

I’ve thrown a few boomerangs in my life, and each fly a bit differently. This one seems to fly in a big spiral, and I have to aim kinda high. Comes down like a helicopter til I lost it on my roof. I have 2 giant trees in my backyard, which is .5 acres. .5 acres is a good amount of space if I did not have 2 giant trees that block the unpredictable flight path. I’ve also thrown a couple of curved boomerangs and I seem to like those more. The nerf one I have is very predictable.
